Sounds great. Range too short
I use the BlueGate connected to my home stereo so I can stream music from my mp3 player and smartphones.I've used a Samsung Galaxy Mp3 player, 2 iphones, an HTC M7 and lastly an HTC 10. Connectivity is super easy and super fast, and the sound quality is very good.I live in a standard 1600 sq ft ranch style house.I can't be more than 10-15 feet, clear line of sight, without serious signal loss. Even if I walk in between the device and BlueGate, it will cause interference and drop outs.I also don't like the fact that you have to disconnect one device before you can connect another. Multiple device connectivity would be great.I knew when purchasing, this didn't have that feature. I didn't think it would bother me, but alas it does. This is the first BT Receiver I have tried, so I don't know how it compares price/performance with others, but in my opinion, it's too expensive for the limited range.I'll be shopping for something else, and move this to the garage.

BlueGATE RCV HD Review
Wish I would have bought a device like this long ago. It brought my non-Bluetooth Yamaha receiver up to current standards and allowed me to connect to it with my music library on my iPhone and iPad Mini-2. I used the optical input on the receiver to connect and it worked perfectly. Very pleased with this purchase. I initially had a problem with the coaxial cable input sounding badly so I used the optical input instead. I had never used the coaxial cable input on the receiver so I can't blame the BlueGATE RCV HD at this point. The optical input is more than fine with me. All of my source inputs on the receiver are HDMI or over network connections so the Yamaha optical input was available on the receiver. Kudos for a very good product at a very reasonable price.

Not for Me.
I was disappointed. On my LG G4, there was regular drop outs in the music. On my daughter's iPhone, there was static and difficulty with reception. And this was with the unit about 5 feet from the phones. I guess I had a bad unit. I wanted the digital coaxial connection because that is the only input remaining on my receiver. For some reason Sony shares HDMI and optical connectors for the same inputs.I ended up ordering the Belkin Songstream because it had the necessary digital coax connector. (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AG6NSNO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00) It has worked just great. If not, I was prepared to move up to Yamaha.

Righ and Left Channels are reversed
The digital outputs coax and optical right and left channels are reversed. I was very surprised that this actually happened. I thought my 3.5mm to RCA cable was a bad one but when I used a DAC I found out that it was still had the right and left channel switched.I am not sure if this issue was addressed in one of the review. I didn't have time to read all the review so if this was already talked about and someone has a solution please let me know. This problem should not be a big deal for many people. If you just have this unit hooked up to your stereo system through 3.5mm to RCA then all you have to do is switch the RCA right and left to correct the issue. If you are using the Coax or Optical then you can also reverse the RCA right and left on your DAC out put or input of the amp.But I have several devices hooked up to my DAC via optical connections. This is how I actually found out that this unit had the right and left channel reversed. I can't change the RCA or my Balanced XLR out put changed because that will change all my other devices out put to be reversed just to fix the issue for this unit. So I am going to send this unit back and get another to see if this was an isolated incident for just this unit.I would give this unit 5 star if the L/R channels weren't screwed up. I will followup with an update after I get the exchanged unit. Hopefully the new one doesn't have this issue. I would definitely recommend this unit for sound quality, functionality, and all the analog and digital outputs it gives you.

My audio system is centered around a Yahama HTR 5540 audio/video receiver. It's more than a few years old but still sounds great. Once I used the analog audio cables into the receiver's AUX input all was OK. I wanted to use the the BlueGATE's coaxial output into my receiver's coaxial input, but when I did, the audio broke up badly. I doubt that the problem is with the receiver since all other inputs work perfectly. I didn't try the optical interface with the BlueGATE because my Blueray DVD is using that. All in all the sound reproduction is fine streaming from my Nexus Google tablet. If you're a true audiophile, it may not be your first choice. But for someone like me that just wants decent sound, the unit is fine.

Works as Advertised, Very Satisfied
I am currently using this item connected to my Onkyo 2.1 stereo receiver via the digital optical interface. This item works perfectly as advertised to stream music from my Andriod OS phone (Samsung Note 4). I have no issues to report and it serves my purposes for streaming music just fine. I leave it connected and powered sitting on top of my receiver in my garage. I can easily connect to the device when needed and simply change the input on the receiver. I was very pleased that it came with all of the cables I would ever need to use this device.
