Works as it should
Heavy duty, works as it should. Don’t try to beat that rear sight off your valuable milsurp carbine with a hammer, get one of these.

Will last a lifetime
I am an old gunsmith, this is a nice tool for M1 Carbine. This tool will likely last a lifetime. Comes with insert for cast sights, this sure beats having to make your own. Instructions are good but my copy was barely readable this is the only negative

Perfect Tool To Get The Job Done
This is a precision tool and is ridiculously easy to use and does a great job at removing and installing the rear sight. It’s stamped with fool-proof remove/install markings that make it impossible to use it the wrong way. The packaging includes a link for a short, well-made YouTube video in case you want to see it in action before you first use it.

Did not fit on my New Auto Ordinance M1 30 Carbine
I wanted to change the standard flip peep sight for an adjustable peep sight. This sight adjuster is a one piece block that slides over the end of the receiver. It is not the type seen on YouTube videos that are two parts that screw together from the top. It appears well made out of an aluminum alloy and finished well. But it is apparently too precisely machined. To use this adjuster you slide it over the back end of the M1 carbine receiver until the sight pusher lines up with the sight dovetail. To do this there are grooves machined to fit the wing of the receiver that the charging handle rides inside. My receiver gets "hung up" sliding through the sight adjuster before it is anywhere close to where the sight adjusting screw comes near the sight dovetail. I can't see where it is hanging up (appears to be on the charging handle side). My M1 is not a WWII copy. It is a new manufacture from AutoOrdinance. It should not make a difference. The carbine appears to be very true to the original specs (In fairness, I have not miced them to be sure.) Now I'm not sure whether to go through the maufacturer (cost of sending it back for them to remachine a few thousandths of an inch and recoat the metal) or just grab a fine file and have at it myself. I really can't see me using the adjusting/removing tool again in my lifetime and if I mess up the tool it wasn't that expensive to begin with. I have other things to occupy my time while I decide.
