GREAT VALUE; AMAZING EDUCATIONAL TOOL DISGUISED AS TOY; HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I am SO HAPPY that I had purchased this product for my 8 year old god son because he absolutely LOVES it (You should have seen the look on his face when he opened it on christmas morning, it was PRICELESS!) This is such an intuitive product and is a great learning tool for children disguised as a toy. My godson started to find small objects around the house and even wanted to go outside in the cold to find bugs and leaves to look at under the microscope! He was so fixated on this microscope that he literally didn't touch any of his other toys he received on Christmas. This microscope gives such a sharp image that I was in shock that I had bought this product at such a low price. This product allows for 40x, 100x & 400x in magnification, provides overhead LED lighting and even comes with prepared slides and so many other accessories! This is a highly durable product and will last for YEARS! This is a great way to allow your children to explore a whole different world of science HANDS ON and is a great educational toy and will peak your child's interest in science and nature. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to any parents out there.

Surprisingly good quality optics for a toy at this low price.
I bought two of these microscope kits for a charity. They arrived today and I opened one to see the quality. They are light, they are made of plastic (but I didn't expect anything different considering the price). I took a look at one of the prepared slides that came with the kit and the image was very sharp and clear at 40X, still clear at 100X, and surprisingly clear at 400X. This is much better than the quality of any other "toy" microscopes that I have ever had as a kid...or even bought as gifts in recent years. It is for kids who will take care of their toys, because this looks as if it might easily break if tossed around. One comment, the kit contains a small primitive microtome to cut a think slice for viewing under the microscope. This microtome does have a razor blade as part of its component. I suggest that you removed this from the kit before giving it to small children. ...added later... I liked them so much I just bought three more for the charity.

Great buy!
This is a GREAT little microscope. I was a little hesitant to buy it because it was so cheap. I wasn't expecting it to be much but it's wonderful. I got it as a present for my twin 8 year olds and they can't get enough of it. Super easy to use, lightweight, and educational. I also ordered some of the My Fisrt Lab slides to go with it and they are great too!

Great set for the budding scientist
Great set for the budding scientist. The microscope was easy enough for my five year old niece to use with some guidence. The knobs were easy for her to opperate and the eye piece was the perfect size. The quailty is what really impressed me. I didn't want a microscope that felt like a toy but I didn't want to spend the money on a real microscope. This one is the perfect compromise. They use quaility materials so it doesn't feel cheap. The base is heavy enough that it doesn't move around on the counter. It also didn't break when it was accidently dropped on the floor. The scope is clear and well lit. We've had a lot of fun using this to learn about science!

Ok for younger kids
I bought this for a 6 year old. It's easy to use with a little help. Mostly with making your own slides and probably the biggest thing that's harder for younger kids is adjusting the focus knob. But it definitely opens a new world seeing things up close for them. It also comes with brine shrimp eggs you can hatch in self made salt water which I thought was pretty neat.

Great microscope for kids
I bought this for my grandchildren aged 7 and 5. The three-year-old had trouble closing one eye to look into the microscope, as expected. This microscope was great for the kids and they absolutely loved it. I also bought 40 slides to go with it so they could immediately do “science”. Daddy will get some pond water to look at on the blank slides. This microscope is lightweight so they can carry it around, and well-made and sturdy. I recommend this as a first microscope for children. It works!

Fantastic!
I wanted to get my neice (8 years old) something for Christmas that would expand her brain. I didn't want to get her the normal pink girly things. I was really worried she would not be interested in a microscope. Boy was I wrong. Once she realized what it was she was super excited and opened it up immediately. She yelled that she'd always wanted one. She started getting out the slides and the other accessories. I also got her another box of slides and she had them under the microscope too. I helped her several times to focus it and it works great. It's not heavy but it also doesn't feel cheap either. When I was shopping for microscopes I spent hours looking at different ones and their reviews. I wanted a kid-friendly one that wasn't super expensive in case she didn't like it. But I still wanted it to work great while not falling apart. I'm so glad I got her this one. If she really takes to it then I can get a more pricey one when she's a bit older.

I'm glad I did
I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas, but couldn't resist testing it myself first. I'm glad I did. This sounds backwards, but I couldn't focus on the lowest magnification, but I could focus on the higher levels (odd). The "mini" size of the microscope means the light above the stage doesn't have a lot of height, which means it doesn't spread to cover much area. While it may perhaps be bright enough, the light only hits a tiny area to view. For me, it was too small. I also kept seeing the inside of the ocular and eyepiece tube, which was annoying. And my eye lashes kept getting in the way as well (although I read on other sites that wearing glasses helps prevent that problem with microscopes). I just couldn't get a satisfying view of the specimen. I returned it for the next model up for all these reasons, and to have glass optics. (This model has plastic optics instead of glass. I didn't realize that until after I purchased it.)

Excelente
Excelente microscopio inicial para los niños, solo dos cosas que lo harían perfecto, que la luz externa fuera más intensa para la observación de cuerpos opacos, tengo que agregar la luz de mi celular y que la base del microscopio pesara más.

... couldn't stop smiling it worked so well and was easy to use
I haven't had tons of experience with microscopes but when I tested this one out (it's a present for our five year old) I couldn't stop smiling it worked so well and was easy to use.I love that it has dual lighting (which most kid ones don't) so you can look at lots of things without using a slide, I looked at a feather, gold chain, small shell, amber necklace and was amazed. She has been asking for a microscope for a while and I am so glad I found this one, she's going to love it!

no cord and fun to play with
As a Biologist, I appreciated a microscope that can both examine slides and be used as a dissecting scope. Very light, no cord and fun to play with. Recommend ordering some protozoa online to culture for viewing.
