Love this kit!
This is an awesome product! My daughter (six) discovered it after watching a video on Hobby Kids TV and she showed it to me, and it looked like a lot of fun so Santa brought her this kit for Christmas. We just made it together and it was easy and very fun! And the gum has great flavor and you can blow awesome bubbles with it! I highly recommend this to anyone with children who are allowed to chew gum! I took a bunch of photos and videos during and after the process, but my phone somehow didn't store them, otherwise I'd post them here. EDIT 1: Read some other reviews that mention coloring - the instructions say that food coloring is optional. If you don't color it, the gum will be a gray/off-white color. We opted to color ours red using McCormick food coloring and our hands didn't turn red or discolored at all. The video we watched on Hobby Kids TV showed using green and blue food colors and their hands did turn green and blue, but that's par for the course when having fun with kids in the kitchen! Also, I think the people who had issues with blowing bubbles probably made their gum too stiff. The instructions say you don't use all of the sugar, you add it until it's the right consistency, then you start to form the pieces of gum with it. We threw away quite a bit of the sugar. The photo shows my daughter blowing one of the many, many bubbles blown this afternoon/evening.

Neat little project!
I enjoyed making this just as much as my daughter did! The gum turned out pretty well with the exception that my daughter was wondering why it wasn't pink? I reread the instructions and found that we were to add our own food coloring ( this is not included which is the reason for the 4 stars). The taste was just like bubble gum, my daughter gave some to her brother, sister and mom after it was made and they all liked it. I'm not sure if the gum is good for blowing bubbles or not, I wasn't in the other room when they chewed it and I only asked them if they like the taste. It makes a little mess but that only took a minute to clean up so that wasn't a big deal. Also we found it easier to mix everything together with our hands, we kepted pressing the powder sugar into the mixture until it was like a dough ball. We heated the gum up again for another five or so seconds in order to keep pressing the powered sugar into the ball. We still had a half a bag of the sugar left. We then rolled the ball out with a rolling pin an cut the gum into " sticks of gum" with a pizza cutter. All in all, this was pretty neat and my daughter really though it was neat, it would have been perfect had they gave a little packet of food coloring with the kits but I suppose you could make what ever color gum you want with your own food coloring. PS. The illustration in the directions telling you to pour the heated ingrediants into the " volcano" of powdered sugar doesn't work too well because the little stir stick they give you doesn't work fast enough and broke, you wanna mix with the powdered sugar with the heated ingrediant before it cools. I don't think that's possible with the little stick they give you and that's why we ended up using our hands. Just be mindful of how hot the ingrediants are when using your hands. Also keep putting the powdered sugar between your hands and the gum batch because it's really sticky, just like you use flour when rolling a dough ball. Have fun and God Almighty Bless us all!

This was so much fun!
Yes, this kit was pricey. And yes, I could probably have gotten the ingredients independently much more cheaply. But having the kit all together along with detailed directions was priceless. My grandson had a blast and enjoyed sharing with his siblings.

Great kit and the bubble gum turned out yummy
My son received this as a gift and he was very excited to try it out. I would definitely consider it a science experiment and it ended up being a bit messy so I would recommend making it in the kitchen. He decided to add dark blue food coloring and the end result was pretty but I was kinda hesitant to try it out. Surprisingly it was delicious! I also would like to add that he is 8 years old and was able to read the instructions and complete the project without any adult help. All in all it was a great learning experience for him and he was very proud and happy with the end result.

Bubble gum fell flat
A little difficult for my 9 yo to do solo. Needed adult assist.Gum just okay in reference to taste and texture. Fun project. Messy. Would not get again.

Waste of money
My 9 yo daughter really wanted to make the bubblegum. I don't think this is a kid friendly project. The mixture was too hot for my kid to handle. The pack doesn't make a lot of gum. I was disappointed with how little gum we got. The gum came out hard with poor flavor. After a minute of chewing you have to spit the gum out. It's nasty. I'm not sure I would spend $ 5 on this yet to spend $15 is a waste. I don't recommend this kit.

Fun! But difficult clean-up.
My kids were watching the mail every day for this to arrive, and it didn't disappoint on the fun scale! The history of bubble gum was interesting to read through, and they loved mixing everything in and chewing their first pieces. We cut it into about 20 rather large pieces. Definitely could have gone smaller. My one complaint is that the the mixing bowl was teeny tiny and did NOT fit all the gum pieces, let alone the corn syrup. Maybe if I'd have put the corn syrup in first, and then balanced the gum balls on top? I might have tried harder if I'd realized what a giant pain it would be to clean one of my own bowls. As it was, the balls were falling out and I hadn't put the syrup in yet, so I just dumped it all into a small Pyrex bowl and microwaved that. Cleaning the gum residue off my glass bowl - standing at the sink scraping it with my fingernail - took longer than setting up, making the gum, and cleaning everything else up, combined. A larger bowl would be much appreciated. If I ever do this again, I'll have some disposable bowls on hand. Other than that, great activity!
