They're all good stories, but I find each story is less thrilling than the last. However, the visionary imagination that went into them is undeniable - a brilliant combination of science (even if it's incorrect science) and fantasy with a touch of ancient, ancient history. Incredible events set on worlds that are familiar, yet are strangers.Every time I read a story, I became giddy and eager to pick up my pen and open a notebook to write my own stories.These are the first of Italo Calvino's work I've read, but I will be reading more of his work in the future. Brilliant fantasy writing.

I love buying these Penguin Modern Classics books as little literary gifts. Also a great way to discover new authors, or lesser-known short works by well-known authors. And the covers are very cute!
