Great top that would benefit from better instructions!
First things first - I really like this bimini. It's the perfect size for our 19 foot open bow I/O boat - it covers the center of the cockpit including the driver and passenger seat and the seats directly behind. It leaves the bow and the stern open, giving passengers a choice of being in the shade or in the sun. Also it is built well - the tubing is a nice 1" diameter (some have only 3/4" diameter tubing which is too flimsy for a boat of any speed IMO), and all the brackets and connections are quality pieces. The cloth top is good quality - not quite as nice as some of the custom professional installs I've seen, but it's also about a tenth of the price - I think I came out ahead! My boat does about 42mph top speed and this bimini behaved just fine at those speeds - filled with air but not straining or shaking or looking like anything might come apart or tear. Some things I didn't love:The directions are minimal at best. The pictures were not specific to my model - they are generic and cover all their biminis from 2-bow to 4-bow. The bow tubes were only partially assembled even though the directions assume they are fully assembled. Also the bow tubes are zip tied together, which I assumed meant that they went together, but no - the left one was zip tied with the right ones and vice versa. Had to do those steps twice. They instruct you to measure and confirm the measurements before drilling and screwing the deck mounts but . . . they don't give you any measurements or even any idea of what and how to measure. I imagine this is because A) It's different for every boat and B) the directions cover a wide variety of their bimini products. Frankly I wouldn't have minded model-specific instructions and at least some guidance about how to install. For example in the pictures the rear support poles are shown at an angle to the deck, but in reality they have to be perpendicular to the deck or else the top of the bimini won't be level. The main support bars and the rear support bars screw into the deck mounts with handy thumb screws, making it easy to remove and install the entire bimini without any tools. But. Instead of the holes in the deck mount being threaded or the nuts being captive, the nuts are just loose. They fit into a hex shaped hole, but nothing actually holds them in. So when you screw out the thumb screws you have to keep your finger over the hole where the nut goes, or else it will back out, fall into the boat and potentially be lost. And without that little nut, you can't put the bimini up. I'm thinking I might be able to tack it into place with a small amount of glue like E6000 but I haven't tried it yet. They do not warn you nor do they advise you that when you go to screw the screws into your boat deck, be very careful with the gel coat. I recommend putting down some masking tape first, then marking out the holes for the deck mounts and saddles, then pre-drill the holes, then counter sink the holes, and then gently drive the screws in by hand, pushing down very hard as you turn the screw so that the screw catches fast. The gel coat is very brittle and tends to crack and chip when you screw into it. Don't be afraid to use a slightly larger drill to pre-drill the holes, either - you really want just the threads to catch and not the shaft of the screw. Gel coat doesn't stretch like wood or plastic - if the shaft comes into contact and makes too much pressure the gel coat will chip and crack, which sucks. Also the little stubby screwdriver they give you is awful. The handle is way too rubbery and the stubby size means you end up driving with the palm of your hand, which means almost immediate blisters. Get yourself a proper long screw driver with a hard plastic handle. All that said it's a great top, especially if you go slow on the install, double check everything as you put it together, and think ahead before drilling any holes. One more tip - if the front straps vibrate in the wind as you are crusing, give them a couple twists before hooking them into the saddle mounts - the vibration will be gone!

It is worth its weight in gold when you are as pale skinned as I am and love to be on the boat
This was worth every penny I spent on it. It is worth its weight in gold when you are as pale skinned as I am and love to be on the boat. I have it on a 16ft boat and it fit perfectly. I love that I can adjust it during the day when the sun is in different spots and how easy it was to install.
