I owned a large gift store many years ago and used these for display purposes. I bought them wholesale from a place outside of Chicago--at least 20 years ago. Can you believe? I am no longer in the retail business, but I kept many of these stands for my own use. I still have ten or so left; holding up a lot of platters and such. But I need more and was very happy to see them offered here on Amazon. I cannot recommend these highly enough. They hold up way more weight and bulk than you would think they would. The clear acrylic base/bottom "hooks" recede into the background--they are hardly seen when displaying a plate, bowl or platter. A hint: When you open them up--as in lifting the top white rubber-coated heavy wire up and away from the bottom acrylic stand--they often bind if you are not lifting evenly and the stand "rocks". I hope I can describe this for you correctly: Keeping the stand mostly closed, (if you are right-handed) splay your three middle fingers of your left hand out on top of the front rung of the acrylic stand and underneath the rubber back; put your two longest fingers of your right hand in between the splayed left hand fingers; push down on the acrylic base with your left three fingers; lift the rubber top evenly with your right two fingers. No binding: A trick taught to me by a wholesaler way back when.

These were great! I would purchase these over and over again. They are very sturdy. I almost had a hard time unfolding them but realized that is what makes them so sturdy and secure. I would not change a thing about these stands. They are perfect for what they are meant for which is to hold PLATES. Poor reviews stating they weren’t good to hold other things that they are not meant to hold should not be in here. These do an amazing job as the plate holders they are. One of them can hold one, two, or three plates VERY securely and you can barely see the stand because it is so clear. I love them!

This larger size is able to support the two large platters shown in the back. The larger platter is 16.5” in length. The smaller size worked out well for the 17cm conversation heart plates shown in front. Stands are very sturdy and stiff, which is needed to properly support your display items. You just have to make sure you open the stand evenly from both sides. Instructions found inside the box advises to sit the bottom on a flat surface, hold flat with one hand, and use the other hand to open evenly. This will avoid breaking the stand. Highly recommend these stands!

These do exactly as they’re supposed to. I really like that you can adjust the angle. I was able to widen the angle enough to fit a variety of different plates and settings. The numbers depended on the type of dish (entree, soup bowl, saucer, salad plate, etc) but I managed to fit at least three plates on each display and as many as six, if there weren’t any bowls. I purposefully aimed for “balanced randomness”. Importantly, I used museum gel between the plates for extra security, just in case (I don’t want to break my husband’s grandmother’s fine china!) the angles were too acute or too obtuse and something slipped. Also, they don’t always lay flat with both edges touching the cabinet, but I think that’s because of how I’ve had to arrange the plates. Just make sure to open them with even pressure and balance the weights of the plates. The stands that I was careful with do touch the surface evenly, so I’m going to assume that’s user-error. You can’t see it unless you get up close, and even then, the stands being mostly clear plastic, it’s disguised enough that my husband didn’t notice the unevenness until I pointed it out and even then, he said it was too subtle for me to bother fixing unless it drove me crazy. It hasn’t yet, so I haven’t changed anything. I don’t know how long these stands would last if I actually planned on using the china regularly, but as I have no intention of moving them more than once a year, if that, for dusting, I’m confident they’ll last for the long haul. Really, my only disappointment is that the corners are _very_ sharp. I had to take extra care to not drag them along the surface of the china cabinet to prevent them scratching the veneer. I’ve used the museum gel to pad the corners while I arranged everything and now that’s settled into a rubberized, invisible padding.

Work great but way too expensive. I do appreciate -- BIG TIME -- that these are adjustable, with enough tension to actually stay in place .

Tried 3 options. These are the winner--the best price and most functional. I love the adjustable backs. The acrylic feet are nearly invisible, and they are quite sturdy. Because the backs are so stiff (as they need to be), it helped to hold my hand across both plastic legs and move the back slowly from the middle to not put strain on either joint. Glad I bought them. They're perfect.

I bought these to use to display books of various sizes at a shopping market this last November. I wasn't sure that they would work for the largest books I needed to display, but they worked like a charm! I read previous reviews and opened them carefully to minimize the chance of them breaking. Once I opened them all, they proved to be very sturdy, and the adjustable wire back made it easy to display both large and small books. Be warned that once open, the holders don't all easily fit back into the box, so you might want to find another container to store them in. Overall, these were a great purchase.

Holds 4 items perfectly, you can even add a tea plate if you would like. Sturdy and of great quality.
