Complete Spanish: The Basics (Coursebook) (Complete Basic Courses)

If you don't already know a little Spanish this course is difficult at first, and you pretty much will need to use the book. Not a good course to learn Spanish in your car. First lesson and they're rattling off sentences that you have no idea what is being said. Don't give enough time after each word or phrase to be able to repeat it after them. I don't have time to study the book at home, so a little disappointed that it doesn't seem to be just an audio course. I've had a little Spanish but still barely keeping up. Have to repeat lessons many times to understand.

I was trying to order the complete course. When I tried to order it went to the used product and would not let me return to shopping page. I decided I could work with a used version. Upon receiving, I discovered it was the course book only without the accompanying disc needed to hear the pronunciations. I am disappointed in this misdirection method to sell incomplete used materials.

A good self-study material and I like the practice part. However there are issues1) Something are stated wrong or confusing. Like it says hushers are always followed by (sorry I forgot the letters already) but 2 lines down it says hushers and gutters are followed by a another list of letters. That is very confusing2) The text does not indicate stressed letters in the word. A lot of other books have a way either by highlighting the letter or putting a mark above it. Make sure you constantly use the CD for pronunciation.3) Some previous reader commented on the speakers not being native. I could not tell since I never met a native russian and I'm a brand newbie. But I would definitely prefer a native russian accent.4) The textbook could have been organized a little better (like using highlights for a new session). And it could have marked the cd track number so user can find it quickly.5) in the CD, there is too little space left for the student to repeat. And the english after that is not really necessary. I would rather have the russian repeated twice instead of having english translation since I need to use with the book anyways.

its European spanish, NOT latin america (there are several differences), they should disclaim that. But otherwise its ok. There are better systems out there, but for the price, its not too bad.

You can learn Spanish with comfort and ease while learning how to speak each word, I use it for work and just to learn another language for the working industry as a skill.

Helping to learn Spanish and it does get harder and harder.

The only issue with the CD is when you learn a word, they say it once, then immediately say the word in English. Wish they would repeat in Russian and give me time to practice saying it. Also the conversations are way too fast and aren’t translated. A part from that, happy with the quantity and variety of topics as well as the clear voice of the speakers.

This course is a great way to start to learn to speak Spanish. You are introduced to typical Spanish names and then learn to speak words and phrases you use in everyday situations. There is also some grammar introduced but the emphasis is on learning to speak Spanish.
