Great monitor for the price
I have recently decided to upgrade to a 144hz monitor and settled on this one. Here are my impressions after a few weeks of using it. A few things to note, this is my first time using a VA panel as well as a 144hz panel and a curved screen. Colors: they look good. when comparing to my old monitor (LG 27uk650) my girlfriend and I both preferred the lg for the more saturated colors while the AOC had deeper blacks. When they aren't right next to each other it isn't as noticeable, and video and pictures look very good. Brightness: this was a big issue that people brought up multiple times saying it didn't get bright enough. For me it is just fine running at contrast 50 and brightness 90 in a room with a big window. My old monitor I would leave around 50% brightness. Text: this is my biggest complaint and I'm not sure if it is because of the resolution or something about VA panels but the text is just slightly less sharp. the letters aren't as defined as on the old 4k monitor but it isn't a huge issue. It seems like something besides just being a lower pixel density. Refresh rate: I don't think I can go back to 60 hz. just using windows everything is so much smoother and makes the experience so much better and pleasant to look at. In game it made things look way better since I play mostly rocket league. the game almost seemed slower and the action was easier to keep track of. Curve: I'm undecided on this one as I have never used a curved screen before but it’s interesting. It should make for a cool dual monitor setup if I get another one of these monitors. Video: when watching the same video on my old 4k ips monitor right next to this new one, there was hardly a noticeable difference in quality, with only a slight difference in vibrancy as I talked about in the colors section. Other things about the screen: it arrived working perfectly and was easy to setup. I'm not currently using the stand, but it seemed sturdy and has lots of adjust-ability. Also, the red band at the bottom isn't something I wanted but I don't really notice it while using the monitor. Price: I got this for under $250 after tax and I think this is the best part of the monitor. Currently many monitors with these specs are going for more money than this one so I'm glad I picked this one. Overall, I am very happy with it. I always thought I would need 4k and prefer it over a high refresh rate I think I have converted myself to 144hz

Excellent deal for the money (CQ27G1)
EDIT: DisplayPort 1.2 now works as advertised. I upgraded my PC, turns out it was an issue with the way my old setup worked, and not with the monitor. This monitor is quirky, but offers great features for the price. I know that the COVID-19 crisis has affected monitor prices, so I will be going off the assumption that this monitor is $230 (what I paid for it). Picture quality is excellent. The monitor does come with some wonky factory calibration, but it can be fixed with ease. The viewing angles are also pretty wonky, but this isn't really an issue if you're sitting in the normal position to use this monitor, as the curve has the added benefit of adjusting viewing angles automatically. However, the curve isn't for anyone and tends to make any AutoCAD or Solidworks renders look slightly odd. I would NOT recommend this monitor for professional use. Although the image quality is good after it's been calibrated, the color reproduction is just not good enough for graphical design, and the curve makes it slightly odd to use as a tool for professional engineering software (most of the time). The 144hz refresh rate works almost as advertised, though some overdrive is necessary to get the pixel response times low enough to reduce smearing. I use medium overdrive, and it works well. As for GSync: this monitor does work well, and has no significant issues using GSync. As for wonky behavior for the monitor: Using DisplayPort 1.2 did not allow the monitor to wake up when the PC was woken up. Using DisplayPort 1.1 (changed in the OSD) fixed this issue, and allows the monitor to run well. I am using an aftermarket cable, so YMMV. I might switch out this cable for a different one and see if it makes a difference. Overall, this monitor was better than expected for $230. WQHD, 144Hz, and GSync capability with a pretty damn good picture quality. If you're on a budget, this is a great monitor for a great price.

Fantastic monitor for the price
This is my first >60Hz monitor, and I'm loving it so far. For reference, I'm coming to this from a $600 34" LG 3440x1440 Ultrawide IPS display. The colors were noticeably worse than my LG out of the box, but after quite a bit of tweaking color, brightness, and contrast settings, I've gotten the color on my AOC to look almost as good in that department. The main advantage of VA panels like this is the excellent contrast ratio. As long as you've got your settings dialed in correctly, this panel gives you VERY deep blacks (not OLED-level, but still very good). So, even though the color performance isn't quite as good as my LG, the AOC still looks better to my eyes. The other big advantage of VA panels is that they have virtually no back-light bleed or glow, like IPS panels tend to suffer from. My LG had light bleed in every single corner, which was very distracting when watching/playing something dark. This monitor is nice and uniform across the entire screen. So far I've only tried Doom 2016 with this monitor, but even so, I can unequivocally that the 144Hz refresh rate is a COMPLETE GAME-CHANGER. When I first booted up the game, I thought "yeah, it's smoother, I guess." But then, after playing for a little while, I set the monitor's refresh rate to 60, and it was almost painful going back. Fortunately, the monitor is compatible with g-sync, even though it's not advertised as such. However, I did have to reinstall my Nvidia drivers in order to get it working, since the G-sync option initially wasn't appearing for me in the control panel. Not a big deal, but just something to be aware of. For the price, this panel is unbeatable. I'm extremely satisfied with it so far.

THE SCREEN IT'S SO RED
This review is for the CQ27G1 27' 2560x1440 2K Monitor Love the monitor and what it promised with 2k resolution and 144 Hz, curved, Freesync but if you use the Nvidia Graphic card you can still adjust it on the control panel to make it compatible with the Gsync. Brightness is Good, the quality of images is awesome and it's really amazing for gaming! Two simple things that I'm not really a fan of that's why I take 1 star out of it is: 1. The screen is so RED! You can adjust by tweaking with the button underneath the monitor but I can't help it seeing the RED is still overwhelming the other colors somehow in this monitor 2. you need to keep toggle with the setting underneath the monitor that is hard to do with so many buttons every time you want to change the setting and brightness... I wish they give us a control panel so we can change it through our monitor I still love the monitor overall With the resolution this big and the price, it's worth the buy!

Excellent, top-quality monitor
Let me start by saying there is nothing to dislike about this monitor. I did not know the brand, AOC, but took a leap and bought it. The monitor came expertly packed, and even had a pull-out strap to easily get the Styrofoam out. All the cables you need are included, adapters are not included. I was most impressed by the structural quality of the monitor and it's base. It is HEAVY, and feels like it was manufactured with love and PC enthusiasts in mind. The quality of the screen is also very, very good. It's not 4k but you don't want 4k for gaming. If you're looking for gaming go with this monitor, if you're looking for gaming and business - go with this monitor. If you're looking to watch TV, go with a different monitor. I went from 24'' to 27'' and the difference is noticeable. I didn't think it would be, but I can easily run my browser on one side, and applications on the other without feeling 'cramped.' It's also the perfect size for my desk. Overall, I would recommend you buy this monitor. Update: 12/17/2024 I've outgrown this monitor, it served me really well for four years, and the only issue I ever had was with the refresh rate not performing well with certain games. I had to tone it down but that's it. When I got a new monitor I was thinking of selling this one, but thought what about using it as a second, vertical monitor. The included stand does not have vertical functionality, but the lowest price vertical monitor stand on Amazon works most excellently. This monitor is made so we'll, it is compatible with the stand, and had the screw holes right where they need to be for a flat bracket attachment, despite the monitor being curved. Great attention to detail AOC! It looks great as a vertical display, don't worry about reading any comments or questions posted here that says otherwise.

Needs some tweaking, but looks great!
I have had the monitor for about a day as of this review, but I played a handful of games for about 6 hours total to get a good sample. Here are my thoughts: - Going from a flat to a curved monitor... yes its VERY noticeable at first. But after getting it centered perfectly and playing for about 15-20 minutes, the curve was no longer noticeable. - The default picture settings are bad, and the "gamer" modes are even worse (especially for gaming!). If you have the patience to spent about 20 minutes tweaking the many settings, you will find the perfect arrangement. - No dead pixels, no immediately obvious defects. Other reviews seem to be hit or miss here, so your mileage may vary. - No USB connections, but makes it for it with an excellent slim picture frame. - Refresh rate goes up to 144hz, resolution to 1440p upscaled. - Motion blur in Destiny 2 seems to be amplified, not sure if this is due to a slower monitor response time or the curved form of the monitor. Disabling motion blur in the game settings fixed this issue. - Despite the awkward talon-shape of the monitor stand, it actually sticks out less than my previous AOC monitor did with a circular base. - DARKS ARE VERY DARK. There are some areas in Destiny 2 that were simply dim before on my previous AOC monitor, and now they are absolutely pitch black. This is not a brightness issue, but likely the difference between LED and LCD panels. - WHITES ARE VERY BRIGHT. The startup screen of Destiny 2 is almost torture because of how bright it gets. I turned down some of the gamma settings which helped a bit. I admit I tried to turn up the brightness to help see in the dark areas (that's now how it works) and suffered greatly for this. - Overall, I would say the display looks fantastic. My previous monitor was 1080p, and my TV is 4K, so I wasn't really sure how a 2K display would compare. It's noticeably better than 1080p, and noticeably cheaper than a 4K screen, so what's not to love? I hate buying new monitors because of how it feels like you are always making a trade-off somewhere unless you pay premium. But so far, I have zero complaints aside from the initial tweaking required. I will update this review if my opinion changes.

Fantastic Value
This monitor is the best bang for your buck monitor out there right now. Period. The 144hz is a huge step up from 60hz or 75hz and the difference is huge if you play a game where you are capable of hitting 144 fps or above. For those people coming from a 24 inch monitor like I did, the size difference is defiantly noticeable when upgrading to a 27 inch. I would say it’s perfect for someone who sits a medium to far distance from their monitor. The 1440p is a great combination with the 27 inch size as well. It has a greater ppi (pixels per inch) than that of a 1080p 24 inch, and once again the difference is noticeable, especially when reading text. The curved screen is not something I thought I would be a fan of, but after some use, I prefer it to a flat panel. While some people may not agree with me, I find it easier to browse the internet or watch videos on a curved display. When gaming, though, I don’t really notice all that much. The stand that this monitor comes with is superb. Even the MSI monitor that’s 80 dollars more expensive than this one with similar specs doesn’t come with a height adjustable stand. I find it incredibly convenient when watching videos vs gaming. The stand is also good quality and there is minimal movement when shaking my desk. In terms of brightness, which is one the caveats Linus mentioned in his review, I find it to be perfectly adequate in a dim to dark room, which is the environment I use it in. I sometimes have to lower the brightness because it gets too agitating to my eyes. I can only see it as a problem if someone were to use it in a moderately bright room and up, which is the environment Linus did his review in. Overall, this a fantastic deal for a monitor which would usually cost upwards of 300 dollars. The specs on top of the no dead pixel warranty are insane value and I recommend anyone in search of a 1440p 144hz monitor to try this one out. Your bank account will thank you.

IF YOU’RE A BUDGET GAMER...
Then let me make one thing perfectly clear... This monitor is a damn good purchase. (27in 1440p/144hz) So, let me explain why I think that. PROS: 1) This monitor is exactly what it says it is and what I’ve been told AOC is. A solid gaming monitor that functions the way it’s intended. There’s not a lot of “bells and whistles” but that’s fine with me. It comes with a good color contrast(for a VA panel), it’s sturdy and the curve isn’t excessive. 2) You’ll have to edit your window’s settings and in-game settings to adjust for the 1440p/144hz but, once you do, the picture quality is excellent. I haven’t seen the fuzzy lettering that people are talking about or any issues with dead pixels or screen flickering. It’s a solid 10/10 on that front. 3) The blue light technology is also a great feature. I’ve noticed a huge difference between my old $80 1080p monitor and this one pertaining to headaches, eye aches and the sorts. I used to only be able to play for around an hour on my old monitor, I can comfortably play for up to 5-6 hours with this one before I feel any tension in my head or eyes. CONS: 1) The base of the stand is rather large so, working with a smaller desk, it’s difficult for me to find a good arm placement but that’s more of a “me” problem than the stand itself. That’s pretty much the main points for me. This monitor is excellent if you don’t feel like shelling out $350-$500 for a monitor with the same exact features as this one. 10/10 would recommend in a heartbeat.

great monitor ...
I've always been a Viewsonic fan but traded my 24" for this 27": AOC CQ27G1 27" , Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor QHD/2K, 1ms, 144Hz, FreeSync, 2560×1440 DisplayPort/HDMI/VGA, Height Adjustable, Poweering it with this: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB I'm amazed how good it is, and i like the curved screen though i expected it was just a gimmick (over the 24" wide screen, it deflects 1"). I will always buy a curved now. Brightness is excellent even though others rate it middle of the road or lower ..... i had to turn it down from default as it was too bright out of the box. I am in a dark room though. The curve should also help to minimize glare of light coming from behind you. For anyone who can get one i recommend they do .... i regret a little bit NOT going to the 31.5" model ( but it was not available from amazon at the time, so i would have had to wait).

Great monitor
I have had this monitor for 2 months now. The quality has been great and noticeable from what I was using before, (17' laptop screen). My eyes don't seem to get as tired as fast. And it's been great for all the games I play.

Did not know AOC before and am really pleased that I purchased this monitor
Read a couple of reviews on different sites. AOC was given good reviews so I took a chance and purchased this monitor. So far really pleased with it. Using freesync with my Radeon RX 5700XT and everything worked well. They connected and the feature enabled right away. I would recommend without a doubt.
