OK the first thing you should know is, if you are American or Italian American, you do not use this spice the way you would Italian spices or “American flavor” spices. My Indian food teacher told me to use a very tiny amount, of course I did not listen to her, of course I ruined the entire dish, this stuff has an extremely strong flavor. It’s fantastic but use it with the utmost caution and continue to add more as you go rather than add too much at once. Test your dish at each point for flavor. It’s disgusting if you use too much and it’s utterly amazingly delicious if you eat the right amount. Just don’t be like me. Follow directions and everything will be fine. 😬

My accupuncturist recently told me to stop eating garlic. I was devastated. I love garlic. I looked for substitutions and found that Asafetida can be a substitute. I have used this in my cooking more often than before - since I just used to use it for Indian dishes. It actually tastes great. My son likes it too. Will likely buy this product again.

Taste better than smells like a good spice. Did some research and this spicy helps regulate your blood pressure and help with digestive system. I been using it to cook rice and on top of salads is a great taste!Both the liquid form and powder are great a botanical remedy. It boost the immune system since Asafoetida helps with it is an antiepileptic, antimicrobial, laxative, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antispasmodic, and anti-flatulent agent. Good stuff

if you buy asafetida for the first time, buy this one. Don't buy the cheapest.

I liked it very much

I purchased this based on all the positive reviews. However, I realized that this wasn't a good product as soon as I opened the packet. If you are an Indian and have cooked all your life with Hing, you would know the smell as soon as open the packet. It doesn't smell anything like Hing, doesn't look anything like hing nor does it taste anything like Hing. Not suitable for cooking Indian foods for sure! I trashed it and have to now head to an Indian grocery store to buy a good quality Hing sourced from India - something that I was hoping to avoid during these times... sigh!

This is a great quality of asafoetida. I am so happy to have this!

no he probado antes la Asafetida, pero no me concuerda con lo que he leido , de sabores potentes y de tener cuidado con las dosis,,la mia sabe a muy poco, casi a nada, no me cuadra con lo que se anuncia, Nno se si me vendra caducada o me paso de precavido a la hora de hacer uso de ella

It has some bitter taste and if used in any curry or gravy the food will taste bitter too . I had to throw most of it .

You can buy this on other sites for about $5.00....for 5 ounces. This price is ridiculously high. I misread the amount of Asafetida and literally was shocked at the amount when it arrived. I tried to return without opening, but the return price is almost as high. Lesson learned for me. WILL NOT BE ORDERING AGAIN EVER!
