does it work everywhere or only in cities does it come on Micro SD. the first page does not give this detail

The European City Navigator works all over Europe. The reference to "city" in the name only means that it refers to traffic guidance vs Marine or Offroad guidance. The software does come on a Micro SD and fits in the slot on your Garmin GPS device. You definitely want the Micro SD version as all you do is push it into the Garmin device's SD slot and you are operational. You can even operate it on a device that has outdated North America mapping software installed on it. The product is not upgradable so I would get the latest version, which is presently the 2013 release. Micro SD Part Num: 010-10680-50

would this work with Garmin nuvi 2597 LMT ?

I have a 2597 LMT and that device is listed for the same Garmin's 010-10680-50 City Navigator Europe NT card...on the Garmin site. Not sure why it isn't on the list on this site.

I wouldn't have the foggiest. Mine is an OLD NUVI 260, and it worked fine. Not even sure they 260's are still made. You might pose the question to Garmin. They have always been very responsive to my inquiries.
