Trap is as described, great product!
I bought this for my boyfriend and he loves it. The Frabill Torpedo Crawfish Trap is made from heavy-duty steel mesh. He was impressed with its overall quality and durability. The trap is well-constructed. The design allows crawfish to climb right in. The only drawback we found is that the holes are too large, allowing smaller crawfish to escape. Overall it is a wonderful trap for the price. It's easy to set up, clean, and functions properly.

Well built, sturdy, and effective.
I bought this product to catch crawdads in the irrigation canals near my home. I have only used one other trap before, a smaller square trap that I don't like as much as these. I originally bought two traps last summer and have used them almost constantly in the warmer months (when the canal is full). I ordered two more this summer because my son and his cousins have had so much fun with them. The traps arrived on time and are well built. The rubber coating is good for corrosion protection. The clip that holds them together appears to be stainless and is very sturdy. It is designed to keep the trap closed, hold the two pieces together, and have a rope tied to it. I did have an issue with the second order that was resolved quickly by their customer service. The only problem I have with this trap is when you open it there is nothing to hold the two halves together. I actually dropped one of the halves into the water and nearly lost it last year. Luckily there was no current and the water was only for feet deep. I have fixed this problem by using a short piece of 12 gauge insulated solid copper wire to attach the two pieces of the cage together between the hinge points. Overall this has been a great product. We have caught up to 40 crawdads at a time in one trap using hot dogs as bait. Very fun. Would and did buy again.

Nice for the Price
This trap is actually better than I thought it would be. The mesh and the frame are sturdy and the size is fine for crayfish--a lot of crayfish. I'm not fond of the way the two halves go together, mainly held in place by a large safety pin sort of clip which is a devil to open and close when wet. I may end up fabricating my own clips for it. My usage was an attempt to capture and identify the crayfish species that colonized my garden pond many years ago, continuing to survive wash outs, turtles, and water snakes. Amazing little critters.

Awesome quality!! Thanks for a great product
I ordered 5 of the crawfish traps. They feel solid!! The vinyl covering the steel expanded metal is thick. I won't be using them for a few months but I can tell they are quality. The only issue I can foresee is the clasp. When you connect both pieces together and put the clasp on, at a certain angle with minimal effort, the pod can come off the clasp. This occurs because the gap on the end is a bit too wide. The solution to this issue to is this. Use a pair of pliers and crimp it a bit more so the trap can't wiggle loose off the clasp. Even with this issue, IT IS AN AWESOME PRODUCT TO CATCH CRAWFISH!! ****UPDATE***** I was finally able to use the traps. It worked great!!! In one trap after soaking for a few hours had 21 crawfish. Just so you are aware, crawfish is able to escape out of the trap with some effort. If you asked me if I would recommend these traps, my answer would be YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!!! **********ANOTHER UPDATE ******* Went on another trip to Eastern Sierra for 7 days. These traps worked great!!! My son and I filled a 5 gallon bucket in 4.5 hours. Money well spent on these traps. I also had an opportunity to use a square crawfish trap with a single entrance. I think it sells for like $20-$25. Those were a pain if you have to throw the traps instead of dropping them. These cylinder traps always land perfect!!

California Delta Crawfishin'!!!!!
Bought 8 of these when they were posted to Slickdeals' front page for less than $5 each. I was limited to 4, so I had my sister buy another 4 for me. Hey, if you want a crawfish boil, you need lots of crawfish. If you want lots of crawfish, you need lots of traps. Don't buy one and expect that you'll have a feast. These work perfectly. Just make sure you properly secure the clip to both halves and make sure you link both halves on the other side of the fastening clip. There are some complaints I've read about people losing half the trap. The only way I can see this happening is the fastener loop on one half breaks or user error. The clip is very sturdy and is a little bit of a chore to open. That is good because if it is easy to open, it is also likely to fail easily. Also, I heard a complaint about how the halves when open don't secure to each other and the untied half can be lost if dropped in the water. Easy fix for that is to add a zip tie. I use a palomar knot to tie the rope to the clip. I am a big fan of Bob Hansler's videos on Youtube. He uses Gees Crawfish Traps. These appear to be just as good but cost less. Anyhow, just cheap dog food works perfectly fine for crawfish. Instead of dropping the dog food right into the traps like Bob does, I zip tie mesh bags to one half of the pot. I use the re-usable zip ties to suspend the bait in the middle of the trap. The reason I do this is because I fish off steep banks in the delta. I don't want the crawfish crawling up the the sides or the bottom of the trap eating the bait from outside the trap. I want them to crawl in and get trapped (commercial crab fishing traps do the same thing). Anyhow, I'll post pics soon.

Well built. But holes could be smaller or better designed.
I recently purchased the Frabill Torpedo Crawfish Trap made from heavy-duty steel mesh, and overall, it’s been a solid addition to our crawfishing gear. We’ve used it several times this season, and I’m impressed with its overall quality and durability. The trap is well-constructed, with sturdy steel mesh that feels like it can withstand plenty of use over the years. It’s evident that Frabill put a lot of thought into the design, making it easy to set up and handle. The torpedo shape works effectively in the water, allowing us to catch crawfish in various environments. However, I do have one concern: the size of the intake holes. While they are designed to allow crawfish to enter easily, we found that some smaller crawfish were able to escape through the holes. It would be beneficial if the intake holes were either smaller or adjustable to help minimize this issue. This is something to consider if you're targeting smaller crawfish, as it can be a bit frustrating to lose some of our catch. Despite this drawback, I have to say that the Frabill Torpedo Crawfish Trap performs well overall. It’s easy to clean, lightweight for transport, and it catches a good amount of crawfish when set up properly. I would definitely recommend it to fellow crawfishing enthusiasts, just with the caveat about the intake holes. It’s a good product that gets the job done, with the potential for improvement. Happy trapping!

Good quality but incomplete.
Unfortunately I have to return the net as one end was missing. It is exactly what I wanted but no use without an end.

Delighted to find this in SA
Very well-made. I bought it to catch baby koi – not too successful yet. Caught only one. The other little sneaks refuse to swim in but I remain hopeful! Maybe I should use caviar as bait. I read some people use it to trap snakes. Will try that when next I have a snake in the house. :)
