Masters of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud

Judge the Book by Its Cover
What a beautiful book for those who appreciate great Tibetan art and great book publishing. It's a heavy book for its size on quality paper and filled with wonderful illustrations of the Zhang Zhung (Dzogchen) lineage holders. There is even a lineage tree chart that folds out. For those who follow the practice of Dzogchen this book represents a fine historical lesson and contains the sayings each master considered essential to the practice. This isn't the book to learn the basic teachings or practice, but it is one to savor, perhaps leaving it on the bed stand and reading one or two sections each night. Thirty five masters are covered in varying degrees plus the current lineage holder. This after a 37 page introduction. So if you're looking for a basic explanation of the practice of Dzogchen, this isn't it. If you're looking for a beautiful and poetic sample of the Dzogchen traditions don't hesitate to add this gem to your collection.

Dzogchen transmission from the Male lineage- Best of the Best!
This is the second copy I purchased. The first copy I read and gave to a friend. This is the Dzogchen male lineage and the teachings they transmitted to their students. All the male masters are in this book, and the transmissions are powerful. Highly recommended book for any serious Dzogchen practitioner, or as it seems 'practitioner'!

A succinct yet expansive text for Dzogchen
Each of the Masters of the Zhang Zhung Nyengyud form of Dzogchenhave given to mankind a simple, concise summation of their Dzogchenpractice. My total favorite is Dawa Galtsen, but there is stillmore to gain from others views. If you've found books on Dzogchento sometimes be a bit vague, try this one.

A rare glimpse of a profound meditative tradition.
We are fortunate that this document has survived the Chinese occupation and lamentable destruction of Tibet's people and culture and has now been made available to Western readers. These are the insights and meditation instructions of a lineage of masters of the Tibetan pre-Buddhist Yungdrung Bon tradition, which claims its origins lie in the ancient Zhang Zhung kingdom, said to have existed some eighteen thousand years ago. With the burgeoning of interest in 'non-duality' in the West there is a need for references to the authentic 'non-dual' teachings of these ancient traditions to avoid speculation and misunderstanding. These are the highest teachings of the tradition; until recently kept secret from all but the most advanced meditators. A treasure for those who are serious about the personal spiritual transformation that our fragmented world needs us all to make.
