Used this to replace some crappy factory scales on a small fixed blade knife. Seemed to be high quality and consistent. Easily worked with a Dremel and sandpaper. I got the black/gray and it is quite dark when finished, showing little of the layering, which was fine by me - it just so happened it almost perfectly match the black epoxy modeling compound I used to fill in the holes where I used Chicago screws to attach the scales to the tang.

I usually use home-made micarta, and it's light, super-strong, and feels good in the hand. G10 feels like your handle scales are made from solid glass, not just resin and glass fiber. It's nearly as heavy as glass, is very hard and unyielding, and is cold to the touch. That's fine for small folding knives, but I like something lighter and warmer for my larger knives. You may think it's a lot like buckhorn. Well, maybe a little. But antler and bone are lighter, warmer to the touch, and grippier for a given texture. I have to say though, it's very easy to work with. It cuts, sands, and carves very easily. Recommended, if the above is not a problem for you.

It's easy to work with. It's tough and it doesn't expand or contract. The handle scales are a little thick, but easy to sand down. You have to be careful because they will burn at high speeds, but as long as you don't burn them they finish up nice. I bought the green and black, I really like the way they look.

They are not perfect and do have defects once you start sanding down the material. I found many small "bubble" pockets.
