I ordered 2 for a larger wooden lid for a window seat in my daughter's rooms This lid probably 24" x 45" and pretty heavy. Only needed 1 rod for it, mounted in the middle, and still a bit stiff to close. However works quite well. So downside to these is what specific kind to order, and I am not sure how I could help other's in that respect. Easy to install, seems quite stable and secure. No issues other than probably ordered ones that are too stiff. I could barely depress one with my hands...

Mounted 1 each at the top inside of the steel doors. Holds door open and closed. Been working great for a few weeks now, only concern is how well they tolerate winter temperatures.

Bought these as a soft-close hinge (as advertised), for a toy box, 1) absolutely lousy install directions on the Amazon site, and seemingly cryptic printed directions on the plastic packaging, all in metric (we didn't cover the metric system when I was in high school, but thankfully Siri had the answers); 2) and most important for those ordering for a soft-close hinge -- THIS IS NOT SOFT-CLOSE, SO COUNT YOUR FINGERS BEFORE AND AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE LID; 3) If you're looking for gas struts for hold-open lifts these would most likely be for you! Definately not what I thought the product would be.

Great little gas struts. You have to understand how they work and get the angles just right. If not they won’t work properly. Don’t put to much weight on them. Our door was 20lbs and opens it no problem.

Couldn’t get them to close. Ended up unscrewing the tips and putting them in my old ones that I was replacing.

Used these to hold up an under stairs storage area I made in the existing stair case. You need to calculate the required strength of the cylinder to hold the opening stairs. These were perfect from the calcs and work brilliantly

Bought these for a heavy chest lid that threatens my kids fingertips when closing. The gas strut works well but there is no resistance in the last few cm of closing.
