Cheap version doesn't cut
Really disappointed, bought the original a long time ago from a vendor and it was great until the handle broke from getting stuck in the dishwasher but the blade was still going strong, wanted to replace it with the same one and see that this was an updated version but in NO WAY is it the same, doesn't cut well, dull short serrated edge, I'm afraid to use it most times because it doesn't cut anything except crust off bread safely, don't recommend this knife, they changed the way they make it and this is definitely a much more inferior knife, very disappointed

Not near the REAL Ginsu I once had
I got my original Ginsu from a Huckster at a county fair in the 1980's. He went through his whole act and then gave me two for the price of one. THOSE knives were unbelievable. This knife is just ok. If you think your going to get the Ginsu that made the name famous,,, your not.

Slices Like A Dream
Very similar to the Ginsu's I remember from the 1980s. Only negative I can think of is that it's not dishwasher safe. It's not really a big deal to me because I always remember to handwash it but my husband is a different story. He has a tendency to put everything in the dishwasher so now I've noticed that the handle doesn't look as nice now as it did when I first got it a few months ago, which I blame on the high heat of the dishwasher. It hasn't affected the use of the knife at all - it still cuts like a dream. We just used it for Thanksgiving & it sliced the turkey beautifully without shredding it. The serving hook on the tip of the knife is a nice touch......all carving knives should have them. Definitely recommend.

A VERY SHARP KNIFE!
Be careful when you use this knife. If is very sharp! I have looked for a replacement for my aging, original Ginsu knife (going on 34 years). This knife if perfect. I still use my old one but really have enjoyed this new addition.

Ginsu - the very best.
We’ve owned a set of the original Ginsu steak knives for more than 35 years and they are still sharp and usable. They have never been sharpened and we are still using them to this day. They may be the best on the planet and I expect the same from this Ginsu knife.

Functional but nothing special
Ginsu has long boasted that their knives are sharper than any other kitchen implement known to man. Whether you've heard this from one of their old infomercials or seen the deft prep work of Vitamix demonstrators during a Costco shopping trip, you might be tempted to buy one based on such widespread culinary legend. However, truth be told, this knife is nothing special. It's not magically sharper than any old kitchen knife you might have. As a matter of fact, if you invest in a good sharpener and regularly maintain the edges of your blades, your trusty implements can outperform anything that comes fresh off a manufacturing line.Overall, this knife is relatively inexpensive and gets the job done. If you need one, this is as good as any, but at the end of the day there's nothing dazzling about it except for brand hype.

Great knife but "BEWARE!"
I bought one of these about twenty years ago at a fair of all places. It's still going strong but I wanted another. So I bought this one. A very nice knife but "BEWARE!" This sucker is much sharper than the last one I bought. I couldn't believe it! Watch your fingers and don't let children handle this piece of equipment. It could be very costly!

Many years of owning a ginsu
OK, here it is. I had 3 ginsu knives that all came up missing after I moved. Thats why I ordered 2 more of them. I have had them since the 1980s. Seen them at the state fair being demonstrated. Believe me they have performed exactly as they claimed they would. I have sliced frozen meat with them many times and yes, they will slice a thin tomato perfectly after slicing the frozen meat. I am 66 years old and will have one till I die. They are worth every penny I have spent on them.

Original Ginsu from 20+ years ago was better.
This Ginsu knife is good, but not as good as the original Ginsu from 20+ years ago. Not even close. It will do the job it as intended.. the original you could use it to cut potatoes without risk of cutting your fingers. This knife will cut your fingers. Also it is much thicker then original. Which means there is no risk of it breaking. So to sum it up. It is good but original was better. ( also I should meantion that I still have a 25 year old Ginsu knife.. its great still but my dad made the mistake of sharpening it which reduced its effectivness but it is still ok.

Perfect!
Perfect knife. Will cut anything. I work in the woods as a logger. This cuts fast and is lighter than a conventional chain saw.
