Great if you have adopted the Switchbot Eco System
I recently purchased the Switchbot Curtain Rod 2 and installed this is my bedroom. They work fantastically, but it was a little frustrating having to open the app every time i wanted to open/close the curtains. The app is very well designed but it just felt like a faff to keep going into my phone every time. As a result i decided to order the swithbot button which works great. On further research i came across the hub mini which allows your switchbot devices to connect with Alexa/Google Home. Having a ton of alexas in our home i thought i would order and give it a try. The hub mini is a very small and compact device. Installation was super easy, connect to a USB power source (cable but no plug included - however i just plugged the included USB lead into a wall socket with USB power points). Connecting the hub to the app was again very simple - the app walks you through this. Within a couple of minutes i had linked the hub to the relevant switchbot Alexa skill and voila - my curtains were now Alexa controlled! Once connected to your wifi network you can also remotely control devices away from your home environment, such as opening your curtains from work or even abroad! Fantastic for security. What i was not aware of is that the hub mini also has an infrared sender, so you can set this little guy up to control your other smart devices - this includes your TV, Projectors, Sky etc. Programming the device to control my Optoma projector was a piece of cake - the app again walks you through this and inputing the manufacturer and model number of your smart device finds the relevant IR codes. You then walk through a test screen to ensure the buttons are all doing what they are suppost to do. If any of the buttons don't work properly or your device is not known then the app allows you to send your own IR codes directly by pointing your remote at the hub and pressing the relevant button. It auto learns this code and programmes the remote in the switchbot app. Overall if you have switchbot devices then the hub mini is a must! It's good value and has a ton of extra features that i didn't even know it had. I hope that you found my review helpful.

Easy to use and can be integrated with other platforms
I thoroughly enjoy playing with home automation, and have been using the SmartThings platform for quite a while - but for all the devices out there that can easily be integrated, there are still loads of modern devices that can't. Enter the SwitchBot Mini! This small little box can be used to learn the control signals from most remote controls, allowing them to be integrated into your smart home. The reason I purchased the little SwitchBot Mini hub was to try and integrate a Dyson desktop fan - It doesn't have any smarts of its own, but using the SwitchBot mini to learn the remote control buttons, I was able to integrate the fan with the rest of my automations :) The SwitchBot is small and tidy, the setup process was easy (though, be sure to manually type your wifi password, don't copy and paste), and although there's an option to "automatically learn your device from the remote", this didn't work for my fan. Not that it matters though, it was really easy to manually add each button on the remote by putting the SwitchBot in learn mode and just pressing the button on the remote. As the device just blasts out IR signals, it won't give you any feedback for the status of devices that you're controlling, but it's been reliable every time it's triggered so far :) It's simple and effective. If you have some not-so-smart appliances that use IR remote controls that you'd like to integrate with your smart ecosystem, the SwitchBot Mini Hub is an elegant solution that I'd be happy to recommend.”

Works well as a BLE hub
I've revised my review from 1 star to 5 stars because initially I found that the first mini hub I had appeared to not work with my SB meters but then SB reached out to me, we discussed the problems and they sent me a replacement mini hub, which works well. :-) The SB devices automatically connect with the hub once they and the hub are registered with the SB smart phone app. The app shows the signal strength of each device the hub is connected to and with more than one hub (I now have 2) some devices can be connected to multiple hubs and it somehow sorts itself out and the SB app can display all of the SB meter data from around my house. I also found that my SB Meter Pro can now display an alternative temperature to the one it measures that can be sourced from internet weather data or from one of the other connected meters and it also displays a weather indicator based on the internet derived weather data. I just now need to figure out what to do with with all the temperature and humidity data I'm now gathering!

Marvellous bit of kit!
Was in dire need of something last minute that could control my air-conditioner whilst away from home for my pets. Wasn't aware this sort of tech existed until my partner discovered it. Had to faff with the router to get it to work (doesn't like EE's compatibility setting, had to manually disable 5GHz) and then play around with the infrared learning feature, which I managed after a few attempts. Honestly thought it wasn't going to work, but it does! Absolute lifesaver. The app is also easy to navigate. It's only day 1 so will edit the review if I encounter any issues.

Lack of documentation
Eventually got my hub to communicate with my smartbot switches. The documentation is woeful. The current android app displays a slide control to enable/disable cloud service activation (you need this enabled so that Alexa can discover the devices) - this should be a button (I spent many hours swearing at the app until I realised!). The smartbot Alexa skill needs to be downloaded and linked to your Alexa app (get this from searching on amazon on your phone - I couldn't find this on the Android Alexa app home skill list). After spending hours trying to configure my switches I eventually got them working. Overall I give this 4/5 since the switches can be quite slow to activate. Update 05/03/2023: The smart bot switches aren't that great. Since commands are executed serially, they can fail to operate if more than one light needs to be switched off / on. The switches work haphazardly. They also block the switches. My advice go with a bulb that supports alexa built in. I use smart life bulbs. These bulbs operate faster and you can set them up to turn off automatically after a duration. You also set the colours. I also cover the light switches with plastic covers (search amazon for light switch blockers) to stop guests using the switches - they attach using magnets. So, the hub. I've added scenarios to add different aspects of my sky and TV remote. I can change channels, the volume on my sound bar, goto prime video, Netflix etc. Make sure you use the smart bot virtual TV remote button 123 to register 3 digit channels.

Support so bad it ruins the system.
The device has issues but is largely functional. It would be a 3 star review highlighting that the hubs struggle to connect to all switchbot devices and do not have good troubleshooting, however I have been dealing with switchbot customer support for 18 months trying to resolve the issues with the two hubs. The support service uses ai chat bots to respond to emails, they hallucinate and make impossible requests. If you call the company out on this they will point out it is your fault for trusting a chat bot. The technical team will not talk to customers so you have to talk to middlemen, who dont actually know the apps or devices, they will also give advice that has clearly come from the AI as it again asks you to do impossible things, I suspect they may not even have a technical support team any more. If your device works out of the box, great news, of not return it, there is no chance the support team will fix anything that isn't solved by restarting the device. Oh and expect support to stop communicating for months at a time and then start over as if you haven't already worked through all their proposed solutions.

My last resort, but fits the need
I bought a pair of these to use as IR repeaters to automate some fans. I would have preferred to use Zigbee smart plugs instead, but my fans do not turn on automatically when power is connected at the mains. Using the Switchbot hubs allowed me to use them as IR blasters to turn the fans on and off through my automations so they do work in the end, but Switchbot will always be a last resort as the products have quite a few flaws. First of all the hubs are WiFi only, besides my robot vacuum, the 3 Switchbots I have are the only smart devices connected to my Wifi. Wifi is not good tech for a home full of smart devices because of limited range and a congested network degrades performance for your other devices (laptops, computers, phones, tablets, streaming devices, etc). Second they operate through the cloud instead of having local control which is extremely slow and not as secure. Ok, so if someone hacked my Switchbot maybe they could only control my fans and kitchen light, but they could also use any vulnerability in the Switchbot to gain access to the rest of the network. Third, they are just not very reliable at all. Often times the app will state an error occurred and you have to repeat your command several times, that just doesn't work well for automations, especially when you can't get the current status, which brings me to my last point... Lastly, there is no way to get the current status of the IR devices it controls, so if you tell it to turn on or off and Switchbot throws an error, drops its connection, has packet loss, etc, you have no way to know if the device turned on or off. That's not really the fault of Switchbot, but a limitation of using IR (and thus switchbot) for home automations. Also, the range and angle of the IR blaster is very poor so strategically placing them out of sight and near a USB outlet while still being able to reach your devices is difficult. So yeah, they kind of work and fill a need, but they just aren't that great overall. If you have only a few devices on your WiFi network, will be placing the hub near your access point, will only be using the Switchbot app on your phone and don't mind it ignoring your command or throwing an error, then go ahead and get one. If you need to place it far from your router, have too many devices on your network, care about security, speed and reliability, or will be using it for automations, think long and hard if you are willing to put up with its many issues and shortcomings.

Makes my life that little bit easier
I bought the hub mini to connect my google home to my switchbot curtains. Its so great that when I'm lying in bed, I can open my curtains via voice command and wake up to natural light. Absolutely a staple to my home now. I was initially annoyed with how bright the light is, but soon realised that I can turn it off with the app! great product

Perfect as a smart hub
Connection is great. We only use it to connect a Switchbot wifi thermometer but the connection seems to be solid/ May add more items at some point as they seem quite reliable
