I needed a cargo light for my 2009 Mini Cooper Base, which has poor lighting in the cargo area in the rear. This light is small enough to fit most anywhere and has a nice, clean style. It's very bright and has a diffused white plastic cover which I much prefer to the lights with clear covers (too harsh and directional). The bright, diffuse light evenly fills the interior. Black wire to ground, red to positive 12v. It has a small momentary contact push button that turns it on and off. I read another review that said to join the white and red (+) wires together and connect to the door/truck/hatch switch 12v+ wire so that it would turn on automatically. That was not the case for the Mini. I needed to join the white wire to the black wire and connect those to my hatch switch ground wire. I may have read that European cars are wired like my Mini and domestic cars like the other reviewers car. So if your car's switch "interrupts the 12v+ combine white and red wires. If the switch interrupts ground, combine black and white wires.

I installed these as footwell lights in my car. The instructions were not clear on what to do with the white wire, initially I only connected the red and black wires but it required me to press the button each time I opened the door before it would light up. I then connected the white and red wire together, to make it work. The push button becomes nonfunctional in this scheme. Once I got it to work, it produced a bright, white light. The self-adhesive mounting is convenient, I hope it holds up over time. I wish the wires were thicker.

I expected them to be bigger by the look of the pictures on Amazon, but they are LEDs and the size isn't as important as it use to be with incandescent lighting. LEDs can be way more brighter than the same physical size of incandescent lighting. I'm sure they will e fine for my use.

Pro's small, good amount of light, price, self adhesive. Con's , button tiny( my application it's not used), tiny wires, hard to strip wires without pulling them apart! Was a good product for the application.

Bought these to add lights in my foot wells, and cargo area of our SUV. I'm glad I did what the instructions say to do several times, "check operation before installing". Because they won't. I followed the wiring instructions, and an quite adept at electrical and electronics wiring. No matter what I tried, these will NOT work as door lights, as you MUST press the switch after powering them up, for the light to come on. They are designed wrong. I am returning these.
