I bought this book as an addition to my Christmas books. I love the artwork and the text. It is a beautiful and historically accurate account of Jesus birth. The illustrator has added a lot of emotion and humor to the scenes on each page.

The rhymes are super odd and the illustrations distract from and even at times contradict the message of the story. So bizarre and unnecessary! For example, Mary and Joseph are riding into Bethlehem on a donkey and two guys are wrestling with odd looking faces very clearly in the background? Seriously, many of these pictures could give me nightmares. It’s like the illustrator was on drugs. Anyways. If you’re looking for a nice rymning Christmas story about the birth of Christ we have loved “The night before Jesus.” We returned this one.

I purchased several copies to give to my grandkids. Gorgeously illustrated story of Jesus' birth and the meaning of Christmas. A new Christmas poem that can be shared with children and adults every year. All the grandkids were fascinated with it.

I gifted this to my daughter for her first Christmas. We have decided to read it to her every Christmas Eve! The illustrations are super cute and detailed, and it was an easy read.

Beautiful poem, accompanied by fun illustrations. The kids enjoyed pointing out details in the pictures, and I enjoyed the depth and beauty of the poetry about the first Christmas.

What a charming book and a beautiful story. Great illustration too.
