Fox 40 Sonik Blast CMG Whistle with Lanyard

 I bought and compared the following whistles:1. Fox 40 Sonik Blast CMG Whistle (Red)2. Acme 636 Safety Whistle (Black)3. UST Marine JetScream Whistle (Yellow)I compared the three of them in the video (in that order). I think the Acme 636 Safety Whistle is best based on it's small shape, loud sound, and price. I think the Fox 40 Sonik Blast CMG Whistle is a close second because the sound is really similar to that put out by the Acme, and I like the soft rubber for gripping with teeth/lips. The UST Marine JetScream Whistle was disappointing. I blew with the same force I did with the other whistles and most of the sound was just a rush of air rather than a whistling sound.Watch and listen to the video and see what you think. Very loud, ear-splittingly loud if you really blast it. Great thing is that you don't have to go full-force to get a sound, it will whistle lightly if you blow lightly, and whistle big if you blow big. I'm kind of afraid to give it all I've got without ear protection. I got orange for visibility, it's going on my kayak life jacket for emergencies. Mine came with a black lanyard that's adjustable and break-away. I like the tooth guard, it's a smart touch. I compared it against the Storm, read lots of reviews and articles. This one has no bead, so the sound doesn't "wobble" as much as the Storm, but it's much more compact and approximately the same decibel level. I read that it even works submerged in water, but I don't know how well in a real world situation. I figure that with space being at a premium, this one has the advantage over the Storm (and anything else on the market) as it's just as capable and very shrill, but super portable.

Lets just say for the past 28 years I have used one of these directing traffic almost every day I work. This whistle gets drivers attention faster than any other regular ball whistle I've used. One word of caution, hold your ears, this darn thing will hear your ears it's so load, I Love It! Also No Pea to Freeze in the winter time.

Got in the water with this so I could alert boats of my presence/issues and immediately upon getting in the claps came undone and this thing sank to the bottom - gone in the waters around Capri. Couldn't even see it - low visibility. everyone was shocked it didn't float. I was shocked it came undone instantly. Not cool.That said - i don't like it on land either. It sounds like crap. It's shrill and goes 0 - 100 - there's no in between. will not be repurchasing

Perfect for me because I am disabled and our house is large and when I take a shower I have to bring my cell phone with me in case I fall I can call my husband on the phone and he will come running in and help me. Well, I fell, and of course the cell phone was on the counter where I couldn't reach it, I laid on that cold floor for a half hour before he checked on me, I was yelling for him but because my disability also affects my throat and I can't yell more than what a normal person talks he never heard me. We bought this whistle I can wear around my neck and never have to worry about laying on a cold hard floor in pain from falling again. Even when he is working, the neighbors can hear this, and the neighbors neighbor and on down the line, it is very loud!This would also be great for children who are at that age where they are by themselves playing outside, if they needed help because they fell and broke their leg on the playground or if someone stops and tries to grab them, this gets IMMEDIATE attention and everyone looking because it is so loud!!!So if you walk alone at night and need a little extra protection against that dark alley, its perfect for you!Also, in our area there are a lot of carjackings, I will wear this around my neck as I go to my car, it is sure to make someone run away due to the loudness of it and it will definitely call attention to you and have people (witnesses) looking at what is going on!This is also great for older people who live alone, get a couple for you and the neighbors, if you fall or need help, blow the whistle and they will come running. Be sure to inform your neighbors of the whistle and that if they ever hear it you need help!PERFECT GIFT FOR EVERYONE!!!

I just purchased this last week, and have been wearing it around my neck every time I walk my dog. We live in a somewhat remote area, in the high country of Colorado. Often times I walk him off leash as we are in wooded meadows, off the beaten path and away from other residences. We take the same basic path about three times a day and have never encountered any problems, although living here you have to be prepared. However, today as I was walking with my dog Sonny, a large pit bull came out of nowhere and began coming towards us while barking loudly. Sonny, my non-aggressive 10 1/2 yr old dog started to go toward the dog in defense of me at which point I blew my new sonic whistle and loudly shouted at the pit to "back off and stop". Not only did my dog retreat behind me away from the pit, but the pit bull stopped in his tracks on the opposite side. He began to come forward slightly once more so I had to blow again, but not even at a high pitch and it turned him around completely away from us. I am so happy I bought this product, and have to say even with a close call like I had, without an incident like this happening I would never know how well it works.

Never had a problem with Fox 40 Whistles. I had a classic & lost it & decided to purchase the Sonik as it stated it was louder, etc. I use in for PE in the gym & outdoors. Everything was fine with it up until about a week ago. Instead of a normal whistle pitch, it is now a very, very, squeaky & has a very high pitch tone that will fade in & out to silence while blowing on it. At first I thought, maybe it was clogged so I cleaned it as best as I could, it helped for one class & then went right back. Ordering a new classic & planning on tossing this one in the trash as soon as it comes in.
