Good on you for not using up more of the spectrum than you need. Some people only think of themselves rahter than only broadcasting at the power they need for quality results. You are the kind of neighbor I want. In the professional tab you will find setting levels for each band. You can get more granular (I believe) with the Merlin version of the software which is endorsed by Asus and will not void your warranty. And yes, you should make sure you disable WEP, change the administrative name and password (which should be really tough) and set a new ssid and complex passwords for WPA2 encryption.

After 7 nodes there aren't much improvements in terms of performance.

Why is the asus rt-ax92u considerably more affordable than the asus rt-ax88u??

hi Chris, I think it's a supply and demand thing and Asus pricing. Prices on all routers seem to be changing daily. With more people working from home and needing networking equipment, router pricing was crazy for a few months, but seems to have settled down a bit now. The ax88 is older (released in 2018) and has more wired ports and accounts for some of the price difference but not all of it. ax92 was released late 2019. Both good routers IMO, I would lean more toward the ax92 as it's a bit newer and will likely get firmware updates sooner than the ax88. Good luck with you choice.

I wish to confirm the rt-ax92u will mesh with the rt-ac88u? (i have 2 meshed now)

I have the rtac880u and have it meshed with 2 rtax92u as repeaters so there is only 1 SSID and it works well.
