The main two drawbacks are that 1: when you sit, they are in close contact with the knees, so mosquitoes get right through, and 2: you have to be extra careful in brush and going over obstacles like logs. The first problem is very easily remedied by pulling the fabric away from your legs when you sit. The second just requires a little more coordination. Hubby and I both got a pair for a 50-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail in Oregon where the mossies are mean, hungry, and hardy to between about 40 and 85 degrees F. They can also fly in amazing winds! An advantage we hadn't considered was that they provided a small amount of protection from damp brush along the trail. It rained (yes, the Cascades in Oregon have rain. And snow, and sleet...) and these helped deflect a bit of that, too. We were quite surprised at how little dampness got through to our legs. We had on rain jackets and pack covers, but wore shorts, so were glad we had these! In the couple downpours, we got under cover, because we're crazy, not stupid! We did get a couple small holes in them that I was able to stitch up later, and we'll save them for another trip. We figured they would essentially be disposable, but held up better than expected. Would I buy them again? Yes, when our other ones give out and we plan another trip. Definitely worth the price, since mosquitoes seem to think we're delicious. If you're going to be in bug territory, these are wonderful!!

These pants aren't going to win any fashion awards, but I don't care because they do a good job of fending off mosquitoes. They have a drawstring waist and adjustable elastic around the ankles. They are quite baggy on me, but they really work! No mosquito bites!

I am extremely sensitive to mosquito bites and can't stay out once they come out in the evening. I don't want to wear chemical repellants. I wear these pants - and matching top - for gardening in the late afternoon. They do protect again bites although some mosquitoes manage to get through - I guess when the mesh is close to my body. I bought them large enough to be roomy so I could move comfortably in the garden and so the mesh wouldn't cling to my body - sometimes they're a little too baggy but generally they're fine. I do wish they weren't quite so hot, though. I can't wear them when it's warm because it's like an oven even though they are just mesh.

These are awesome. Not a single mosquito gets thru the mesh. These pants saved me from a summer of bitten up legs (I work outside, on a farm).

When purchasing these bug pants I had my doubts as to the quality. But after opening it up and trying it on I see that it is perfect for its intentional use, to stop those pesky mosquitos! I would recommend this item to anyone wanting to hike or camp, mosquito-bite free! Disclaimer: It may not be suitable for those man-eaters you find deep in the Lousiana bayou country. Them mosque's are bad-a** blood suckas that have been known to take dem babies right out they crib! After my next trip down there I will report back if I find any flaws with this items operation. But so far so good:)

Chiggers & Mosquitos are THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE... 2 days ago (after suffering at least 10 bites on my arms & legs), I had enough!! did my research on ways to keep these odious pests off of me & came upon Coghlan’s whole outfit. Based on reviews, I was sold! This is my first review ever... was compelled to leave one after spending this afternoon in my garden (wearing these & the Coghlan’s shirt). I saw at least 3 mosquitos fly up to my face & then fly AWAY!!!!! (Didn’t see any bugs 2 days ago when I got eaten alive....) after I finished my garden work, I had to leave a review ASAP... Thank you Coghlan’s Bug Pants (& shirt) for giving me my sanity & tranquility back!!! No bites, easy outfit to take on/off, fabulous price, quick delivery (love Amazon...), I’m so happy that I ordered the whole outfit!!! Now I just need to find a similar thing for my dogs, who are very low to the ground & get eaten alive... fingers crossed, you guys also offer dog bug suits!!

If you wearing shorts the comfortably it’s not bad and the fit well , but the quality is thin fabric, so I do not know if the durability will sustain, heavy, hiking, or walking past bushes. But if you’re walking through Mexico) as a tourist and you just walking by only site seeing this is just perfect for you .

Functionality: Fairly good. Hot to wear. Some mosquitoes still bite through it.

This pants has a good netting that will provide protection. The mesh is very small and dense. It features a pull-out cord to secure all openings. Note that it is designed to be worn over regular pants, as it is a transparent material. ☺By the way, a medium size will usually fit most people, unless you are a gorilla.

Big disappointment, if the fabric touches your legs in any way you get stung. There were a lot of mosquitoes and deer flies at the cottage and these pants were pretty much useless, especially if you are working in long grass, which pushes the pants against your legs! And if you are sitting or lying down, then it's even worse as the fabric is snug against your legs. You are better off slathering yourself with Deet every few hours, or getting a mosquito net if you sit in a lawn chair.

Easy to pull on …good protection…i garden on a country property…..used to get bitten on legs…I .spray ankles with bug spray…problem solved!

Bought the jacket about a month ago, it worked so well I decided to get the pants. I recommend you buy a bigger size than you normally take so the fabric will be out from your body and the mosquitoes can't poke through it to get you LOL I take a small, I bought mediums and they're working wonderfully well. Everyone who sees me in them immediately runs off to find some for themselves. Absolutely a great buy that I wish I'd invested in years ago.

Got the pants and top set, I watched the bugs bite my legs right through the mesh, I was covered in bites.
