It just works
11 years old. Left it in the rain, its taking a ride or 4 on top of my truck. Dropped off the top of semi trailers. When it dies i will absolutely buy another one, hopefully the quality is the same.

Rugged, well-built 10,000-count DMM, albeit a little unconventional
This DMM is interesting to say the least. Mine was received in a beat-up unsealed box with a dead battery, missing inner bags for the meter and the accessories, and with smudges and scuffs on the rubber holster - looking conspicuously like a demo or a return. HOWEVER, Amazon (for some odd reason ;-), priced these units down to $138 for a limited period of time (couple weeks?). So, I quickly made the purchase on what I think is an otherwise very pricey DMM. I believe this instrument is manufactured in Taiwan (by Brymen perhaps ?), and it is ruggedly constructed, consistent w it's IP67 rating, has very nice 10,000-count resolution, and meets its fairly good accuracy specs. The meter is also safety rated to CAT IV, 1000 volts - the highest in the business! The included probes are good (not great) and are hard plastic. Auto-ranging is quick despite the slow display refresh rate. Finally, the function switch is one of the best feeling of all my DMMs (although its a 360-degree switch without a second off position). The downsides to this meter are: a poor backlight (way too dim); only a 2 AMP upper-limit current range with a weird HRC fuse; and horribly slow continuity checker. Another design glitch that may be an issue w some folks is that capacitance is measured from the high current jack.

Safety first
We use these for wireline operations. Dealing with electrically detonated explosives means you absolutely need to know youre readings accurately. A must buy!!

Not Recommend
They seem to be a great meters at first, but they locked up and won't read anything anymore. This has happened to 3 out of the 6 I've purchased in the past 3 months. Wouldn't recommend them for checking DC voltage on solar sites.

Great alternative to high end Fluke DMMs
This is an amazingly rugged IP67 rated DMM. I was looking for a True-RMS, 10k count DMM, and trying to avoid paying Fluke prices. These are rare in the used market, but when you do find them, they're priced very well. The main fuse inside the unit is unusual, and unusually large (2.5" from what I recall). It's probably wise to pick up some spares in case they go out of production.Doing some research, this seems to be based on a Wavetek design.Pros------- Nicely lit display, not too bright- Magnetic holder- Fast auto-ranging- Everything feels to be of great quality- IP67 rated- Stand works wellCons-------- Very large and heavy (I keep a smaller Extech around for lighter duty use)- Unusual fuse, buy spares in case they go out of production

Love It
I own two of these meters and never have had a problem. I am buying two more to expand my fleet. They are reliable and dependable. I love this product and would recommend this product to everyone.

Solid meter but for some reason went crazy on me ...
Solid meter but for some reason went crazy on me so I returned it. Would not read correct voltage.
