Excellent quality tool
Great ratchet. It has the drive head size of a 1/4 inch ratchet with a 3/8 inch drive. Great ergonomics and finish associated with the tool, it fits my hand well.Tone makes great specialty tools. Perfect for working in small areas - I will use it to replace spark plugs on wife’s Subaru (limited space with Subie boxer engine). Currently replacing all of my old Craftsman tool (that I inherited) with Tone Tools (Japan) and Koken USA (Japan) tools . I personally like Koken sockets and ratchets a bit more than Tone, however the Koken selection of other tools is limited compared to Tone; and right now you can get these high quality Japanese tools (from both companies) at good prices as the yen is down against the US dollar. The only thing that I don’t like, and it has nothing to do with the quality of the tool, is that I think some of Tone tools may be made in their facility in Vietnam instead of Japan - there are no markings of national origin on the ratchet itself. However, and again that has nothing to do with the fit, form, function or quality of the tool. I really like the ratchet (Note: If it makes a difference to anyone, their Japanese competitor, Koken Tools USA are all made in Japan, and quite a bit more expensive, however).

Extremely small head for a 3/8 drive
I am surprised at just how small the head size is. It is not just smaller than a 3/8 size, but smaller compared to a 1/4 head. It should really help is getting into very tight areas. I bought this to replace spark plugs on a Subaru BRZ which is a bit short on space for this task. It looks to be well made, but I suspect not intended for high torque uses.

This really is compact
This is the most compact head I've ever seen on a 3/8 ratchet. They really did put a 3/8 anvil in a 1/4 body. It's very high quality too. Everything is finished perfectly and the mechanism has exellent close tollerances. It spins very smoothly with nice precise clicks. The direction switch is just right for me and i really like the way it's recessed The satin-pearl chrome finish is nice. These are my first quick release ratchets in a long time. I'll be getting more as soon as I can

3/8" drive in a 1/4" drive body
First of all, this ratchet is a 1/4" body with a 3/8" drive. The head on this ratchet is very compact, its diameter is about the same as my USA craftsman 14mm socket, another way to put the size into perspective, it's the same size as my thumb, I'm still amazed by it's compactness. The total length is 5.75" so it's pretty short. The ratcheting mechanism is smooth and the back drag is okay, not the best but definitely not the worse, about average. The satin chrome finish is much nicer than what the photos show and there are no rough areas left from forging. The drive head to body fitment is average tightness, again not the best but not the worse. The small switch lever is flush against the body and is easy to use. To disengage the ball detent, you need to push the button pretty far in past flush, I don't really see this as a negative and more of a design quirk as the button doesnt protrude that much and being that it's a 1/4" body with 3/8" drive, the drive and quick release mechanism is smaller than in a 3/8" body ratchet. It could also be purposely designed this way to prevent accidental bumps and dropping the socket. It's something you will have to get used to but it should hopefully operate better once it gets used more and broken in.

Perfect for getting into tight places.
Got this for helping change plugs in subaru (very tight fit). This is a great little ratchet. The size of a 1/4" drive but 3/8". 72 teeth and surprisingly strong for the size. Of course this is not for high leverage applications because of the size but when you need to get into a tight place it's perfect. Very well made tool, fit and finish etc.

Very nice compact body ratchet
I love this 3/8 inch ratchet in a 1/4 inch size body. It sure makes getting into tight spaces a lot easier. It will come in very handy the next time I change the serpentine belt on our V6 Camry with a 2GR-FE engine. The space between the inner fender and the belt tensioner is very tight. My sons have a Subaru Impreza now, and I understand that getting at the sparkplugs are another tight spot. This ratchet, along with the Koken Z-EAL low profile sockets will certainly make wrenching on our cars much easier.

Great little ratchet
This thing is perfect for when things get tight and a regular size bodied ratchet won’t work . This has saved me a bunch of time and it is super smooth. A high quality ratchet that’s priced right
