Review: Fast-track to diet and good health success - If you read Gary Taubes book, analyzing 60,000 people meta-studies of multiple diets over the past 10,000+ years, you'll understand why he concluded "ANY weight-loss diet will work to the degree you cut carbs". There is no such thing as an 'essential' carb. Proper nutrition (i.e. dark veggies, phytonutrients, probiotics, vitamins, 60 different minerals, quality proteins, Omega3 fats, etc) is also important. This Atkins low-carb diet book is highly recommended by multiple diet experts as a quick way to lose excess fat, reset your weight setpoint, get rid of most modern diseases, and also help you get off the medications that eventually screw up your kidneys or liver (doctors never mention that!), or cause Alzheimers (which is caused by insulin irritating the blood vessels of the brain, same as heart disease). Active Men typically lose 25 lbs the first month, and women about 5-7 lbs the first week or two, then 1.5 lbs/wk afterwards. Getting used to throwing out that nasty skim milk and eating butter, real cream in coffee, mayonnaise, etc. again is weird at first, but delicious. The first 4 days is tough as one goes through sugar withdrawals (identical to cocaine withdrawals in brain scans), but then all cravings- and thus the 'munchies'- goes away and that helps one stick to their new low-carb 'lifestyle'. Long distance runners and bicyclists also do well on this low-carb diet, since it eliminates hunger and 'bonking', since the body's fat reserves (40,000+ calories) are MUCH higher than its glycogen reserves (1500-2000 calories). It takes the body 2-3 weeks to adapt to burning fat instead of sugar, but without those insulin spikes, hunger goes away. With the additonal proper 'optimal' vitamins/minerals/omega3s, so does type 2 diabetes, heart diesease, alzheimers, and most cancers. Iodide, selenium, chromium, vanadium, and copper are very important to continued health, but are not addressed in this book. See the movie "Food Matters" and read Dr. David Brownstein's 'Iodide' book and Dr. Joel Wallach's 'Dead Doctor's Don't Lie' for more on this. Review: easy to understand amazing book - love this book . this book has been edited so many people can understand better. results!

DOES ATKINS WORK?
First of all, yes Atkins does work! I've been off and on Atkins and other diets for many, many years. I like Atkins the best because it is easier to count carbs than anything else such as points, calories, fats, or whatever. All other endeavors with the Atkins plan were based on the original Atkins. There are not a whole lot of changes, but some. I read the book, learned a few new things, enjoyed the testimonials, and perused the two week meal planner. The only problem I've ever had with Atkins is after a while - boredom. That's a personal problem. I am an insulin dependent type 2 diabetic. Atkins is fantastic in reducing my insulin needs. However, make sure your kidneys are in tiptop condition before you start Atkins. Check with your doctor.

Atkins Made Easy
I have been on Atkins for a year now and have read NANY and a few of the older Atkins books. When I saw The New Atkins Made Easy I had to add it to my collection. If you are familiar with the Atkins way of eating then you don't really need to purchase this book but for those who are just starting out I'd highly recommend this book. It really does help one understand Atkins without feeling overwhelmed. All the information is there for each phase of Atkins. The science behind Atkins is not as detailed as NANY. For each phase there are two menu plans, one that incorporates the Atkins bars, shakes, and frozen meals which I think is great because it will help people get started without feeling like they have to cook every meal and snack. For some that just seems like a lot. Although Atkins is about eating whole foods but again for those just getting started it makes it 'easier'. There is also a menu plan that doesn't require any Atkins products. Both menu plans are great and I believe will help set one up for success. I would also recommend reading NANY too both are great books. I love my new way of eating. I have lost weight and am much healthier. It's a great way for the whole family to eat, of course they don't count carbs and do eat higher carb foods like raw honey, more fruits, etc.

There's a Better Book About The Atkins Diet.......
This book is helpful and informative, however, it just wasn't nearly as good as a previous book, A New Atkins for a New You, written by Eric Westman, Stephen Phinney, and Jeff Volek. I would definitely give the book written by these 3 authors a 5 star rating. The reason I knocked off a star on The New Atkins Made Easy is that it doesn't give some of the details that can be important--it is more like a summary, or in other words, it's "dumbed down." My other criticism of it is that it is too big of a commercial for Atkins brand products. They are promoted all through this book, and I'm not fond of most Atkins products because they contain some ingredients that may not be very healthy. Also, when I tried the products, my weight loss stopped completely and I actually started to gain weight again!

Thank You Dr. Atkins
I bought this book in hopes of losing a little weight. However, following the diet for 3 months I not only lost 30 lbs. but my Thyroid function improved (i was hypo was told if it went any lower I would need synthroid). I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, but while on this diet it cut my inflammation numbers in half. Also my blood pressure was so good my doctor cut my meds in half. My triglycerides, and LDL dropped to normal levels. My dry skin went away, and now is soft and supple. PLus I lost 30 lbs. I tried so many diets before like Weight Watchers which after counting every morsel I put in my mouth I lost 5 lbs in 3 months. I intend on making this my lifestyle, its so easy. I can't wait for another 3 months my doctor said she might have to take me off of blood pressure meds altogether and I am hoping I lose 15 more lbs.

Great New Edition
I was really curious about this "new" edition of the Atkins diet program. I've been following the Atkins regimen for a couple years and lost 35 pounds in the initial 2 months. Since then, I've adopted the Atkins diet as my new way of life when it comes to my eating habits. I am diabetic, and since following this diet - my blood sugars have come very close to being "normal" (glucose of 150 to 200) before I even take an insulin shot. This new edition is an extremely easy-to-follow approach to our eating habits. It has some changes in the diet and adds different foods allowed during the first two phases. It's a great follow-up to the diet and is a very practical approach to losing weight. I highly recommend this text as it's an easy, healthy way to approach your dieting needs.

Do Atkins with this book!
This is so helpful to own. We are second time Atkins dieters, the first with the original version, so didn't need to understand the physiology at all. We were working from online information and thought we wouldn't really need the book. I ordered it, browsed through and still didn't think I'd really use it much except for recipes. BUT once you hit a plateau or have a question, she deals with the psychology of sticking with the program. I love her use of "calorie bombs." and stories of others who explain what they learned along the way. Just what I needed when I blew it 6 days in induction on a vacation! It took 5 days to get back into ketosis. Lesson learned, but I didn't give up. It's a very satisfying diet. We made the cauliflower/cheese "dough" pizza and were stunned. We are avid pizza makers. This was totally satisfying, great base for our next pizza. I now want a full cookbook.

Brilliant if you follow the book!!!!
I have followed the first two weeks as set out precisely in this book. Today is my second weigh in and I am pleased to say that I have lost 13lb. You have to read the book to understand the reasoning and science behind ketosis and low carb eating to gain the most from a book that costs relatively little. I thought it would be an expensive shopping list but it certainly wasn't! I have not been tempted by sugary snacks or to cheat in any way as I have just not been hungry at all. Give it a go, follow the guide for just two weeks and you won't regret it. I recommend buying keto sticks to check if you are in ketosis, a state where your body burns your fat for fuel. When the stick turns purple, it will make you smile and encourage you to stick to the diet. I intend to stay on phase 1 for a good while as I have a few more stones to lose but it should be off in no time with this book!!! The only thing you have to lose by buying this book is... wait for it.....stone after stone!!! Good luck!

It is brilliant and surely worth a month of trying just to get off sweets and junk easy food.
Im doing it my mother aged 90 and my daughter aged 30 it is easy you can buy all necessary through amazon and hopefully it will work as its easy to stick to and does not require you to do massive amounts of exercise every hour !!! LOL lets be honest when you are overweight it is very difficult to start a diet and start massive exercising at the same time, near impossible. Read it and think about it , its taking us back to how people ate 100 years ago and no processed food No high sugar lo fat in it and the snacks and the bread is just like my grandma made 70 years ago , no one was overweight then.
