Clairol Shimmer Lights 16 oz. Shampoo + 16 oz. Conditioner (Combo Deal)

I always read the reviews, and was surprised to see the hate for this product. It does exactly what it says it will - it strips brassiness from your hair. That is no easy feat...hair color can do it. Toners can do it. It's not a typical shampoo/conditioner function. Does it dry your hair? Maybe a little. It's not meant to be used every day. If you leave this on your hair for 20 minutes, it could very well dry out your hair. I don't think that's a problem with the product. The smell may not be for everyone; I like it, even considering that I'm mixing two sets of products. It's not offensive, it just smells clean. I had a Brazilian Blowout, and my stylist okayed using this once a week. I only wash my very fine thin blonde hair every 4th day, so I use this about every other time I shampoo. I combine it with the Brazilian Blowout shampoo/conditioner combo, again, at my stylist's recommendation. I focus this product's shampoo on my roots and let it sit for a few minutes before I get in the shower. I then mix the conditioners, apply to the ends, and let that sit. This stuff is fabulous, visible results every time. I've stopped toning my hair at all - this seems to be much less damaging, while still effective. It makes my white hair shine, and my blonde hair that pulls brassy looks refreshed and toned. I love it!

I purchased these products because I'm growing out my gray hair and wanted to balance out the brassiness on my ends to even out the tone overall. My non-gray hair is a sort of reddish-brown, but it has become brassy due to sun exposure and water. The shampoo and conditioner definitely tone down the reds in my hair and make the white whiter and the red blonder, so they are doing what I wanted. I will continue using these products when my hair is fully gray to keep the color prettier. Some other reviewers did not like the smell, however I find it clean and pleasing, a fresh marine scent that reminds of European spa-type products like Vitabath. A little goes a long way with both the shampoo and conditioner, so I expect the bottles will last a while. I get a good lather from about a nickel-sized amount of shampoo, and about the same amount of conditioner makes my hair manageable to comb out and soft to the touch. While the purple color does not permanently stain my shower, it does leave a purple tint under my fingernails and on my cuticles if I'm not careful. Also, I have to make sure to get it out of my ears and rinse the nape of my neck carefully to avoid purple stains on my pillow cases (I wash my hair at night).

I used to get my hair done every 8 weeks, but after moving & not finding a new stylist yet, it's been a couple months and my balayage has yellowed. It doesn't look bad, but I prefer the more white look that yellow. I read the reviews and was impressed with the results I'd seen from this product, so I decided to try it. I followed the instructions & feedback from other reviewers & left both the shampoo & conditioner on for about 5 minutes each and after 1 use, I already see a big reduction in the yellow. I'd definitely say this is effective. Two things to note - the conditioner doesn't feel like conditioners I'm used to. When I first applied it, it didn't seem like it was conditioner at all and I was worried it wouldn't work. However, once I rinsed it out & dried my hair, my hair was very soft. So it does work well, it just feels different. Also, I'm not incredibly fond of the smell. To me, it smells kind of like Old Spice - a masculine smell. It's not terrible, just not my favorite. I washed my hair last night and 12 hours later the smell still lingers. I may have to find something to spritz in my hair. Overall,I'd highly recommend this. I was using MARC DANIELS Professional Purple Shampoo Conditioner: Blonde Highlight Toning Paraben Free Shampoo For Color Treated & Grey Hair & Natural Moisturizing Conditioner. Combo Deal. and maybe I just didn't leave it on long enough, but I feel I've gotten better results out of this Clairol than I did out of the Marc Daniels. I prefer the smell of Marc Daniels though.

I decided to try this shampoo out when my Hairdresser recommended it to me after I complemented her on her hair. She told me to use until it got to the color I wanted then to start using my normal shampoo again. My hair is typically quite blonde but after coloring it did have a bronze tint to it which I do not like. After one wash with the shampoo and conditioner my hair turned purple. But not all just my tips and it did not get rid of the bronze/ copper tones I was hoping it would do. I kept using it and my hair stayed purple and the bronze did calm down a bit but not that much. I was okay with a bit of purple in my hair however some may not be. After using it for about a week every day my hair felt a lot healthier and stronger which was the best thing about this product. Also after a couple of days of using my regular shampoo the purple was gone and a nice glowing blonde was left on my tips, even though the brassy was still on the top. After coloring my hair again I went for an Ash color to rid the brassy color on top. I used the product for about a week and a half, yes hair turned purple again. But after a couple of days of going back to my normal shampoo the purple was gone and my hair was left with a wonderful glowing blonde. Regarding the smell (seems to be a big part of the questions asked) it does smell like you just colored your hair however if you use a small amount of this and mix it in with your normal shampoo it kills off the smell. Over all It has improved the health of my hair and I have now bought my second set of shampoo and conditioner.

Déçu de cette nouvelle version l'ancienne formule était plus efficace vraiment ell neutralisée les reflets jaune du premier lavage celui-ci est comme les autres marques, même la couleur du produit ne pas si intense vraiment si la formule ne reviens pas la même j’ai achèterais plus du tout autant de prendre n’importe quelle autre marque
