WORX WG252 20V 2-in-1 Attachment Capable Hedge Trimmer

If you're challenged with trimming needs that otherwise require your using ladders, this is the product for you. In our case, we have wisteria that cover 2 trellises, with annual growth reaching upwards of 8 feet and more. I choose this battery powered trimmer because of my experience with some of the other Worx fine tools. The trimmer is nicely made with regard to weight, design, and safety I do want to address battery power. Out of the box, I used the trimmer for nearly 2 hours and had substantial power to spare (battery has a lighted fuel guage). It came with a 20v, 2 amp hour battery and charger. There are larger amp hour batteries available, but the trade off is added tool weight. I found the provided battery quite adequate, and, in fact, appreciated the break during recharge. Keep in mind, the weight of the trimming tool is mounted on the top of the telescoping pole. Extended, trimming is dooable, but unwieldy and fatiguing. Some sort of shoulder harness would be very helpful, if not necessary. All considered, this tool is most capable and efficiently keeps the user safely on the ground. Will I keep this tool ... absolutely. I have no difficulty recommending it to most anyone that can handle its top heavy weigh. Ladders can be dangerous, even without trimmers that, in any case, require both hands.

Bottom line, it works well. Yes it's a bit heavy and awkward at full extension, but I don't see how it could be designed to avoid that, while still being strong and powerful enough. I was worried that a 20v tool wouldn't be able to prune big bushes, but it cuts surprisingly well. Battery life is good enough for my purposes. The "2-in-1" thing is totally misleading. You might think you can remove the extension and have a normal size trimmer, but no, it doesn't do that, it just telescopes to a mininum length of 7 feet. Like every power tool today, it has a totally unnecessary "safety" interlock which does nothing but make the tool more difficult and dangerous to use. I say "dangerous" because it's very hard to use that thumb release while struggling to hold the tool at full extension. After 5 minutes I gave up, went into the shop and disabled the lock (sorry, Worx lawyers) and now I have a usable tool. Outside of these criticisms it's a good tool that really gets the job done.

I like this trimmer. It is fine for doing light duty trimming in areas that you could not reach with a pole. I chose this brand because I already had a couple of old Worx batteries from a 6 year old lawn trimmer. The batteries are the same although they've been updated in their labeling a bit. The charger is significantly different, which is good, because that old wall wart charger took a long time to charge a battery. I was a bit worried because my lawn trimmer would go through batteries pretty quick, and I'm still not sure this trimmer would work well with only one battery. One battery was enough for my testing, but I wouldn't expect it to last more than 30 minutes with constant trimming however. Honestly, next to my "Brand X" 18V cordless hedge trimmer, this Worx looks and sounds a little underpowered. Of course the "Brand X" is a hand trimmer, and not on a pole. The pole version of that brand's trimmer may be lighter duty as well. The Worx did OK actually cutting, but just looking at it, I can see that it would have its limitations. The trim head is easy to adjust and goes from 90 degrees down to 45 degrees up (135 degree range). The plastic "scabbard" has a mounting hole for the wall so you can use it to hang the trimmer head while not in use. I guess you hang the pole on a hook then. I didn't see anything in the box for hanging that. I agree with what I read in other reviews. It does get heavy after a while, and initially the pole on mine wouldn't stay extended either. I was able to tighten it up with a screwdriver and a allen wrench. If you over tighten it (like I did), you won't be able to move the orange release lever, but after loosening it enough to work the lever, it still was able to grip the pole tightly and not move while in use. I also agree that a short handle attachment to make this a light duty hand trimmer would have been very nice. It may be a bit underpowered to use as hand trimmer, but it is notably lighter than my "Brand X", and I think it would have made a nice light trimmer (light duty and light weight). Also as others have said, there is no grab handle, which is a real head scratcher since the grass timmer has an adjustable grab handle and it is not nearly as long. The back handle does rotate, but I found no use for that. It was easier just to rotate my grip. One thing I didn't like about this trimmer that I didn't see mentioned much is that the trigger can get hung up where it needs a more grip strength to keep it pressed than I would like. Overall though, its pretty nice and got the job done.

My favorite thing about WORX items is the battery interchangeability. The second favorite thing is their durability. I've had my cordless weed whip for over ten years and it still works perfectly. We also got a WORX leaf blower a year ago. They get used at least once a week. I look forward to using this hedge trimmer; the old one we have works, but it's very heavy and corded. The noise in all of these tools is acceptable at best and better/lower than most. We have several batteries, all in chargers all the time. I can trim nearly my whole acre of plants, flower beds, shrubs, etc with one battery on the weed whip, and use the blower around the yard, garage, ship and patio on one battery. We take good care of our tools so they will last! Good products.

Good power, a little heavy but can’t have both

Muy práctico, algo pesado, pero trabaja muy bien, cortes limpios y muy silenciosa en comparación de otras marcas.

Fonctionne très bien. Coupant, fait très bien le travail et la portée est bonne. Peut être un peu lourd pour certaines personnes. Je le recommande.
