Has lots of capabilities and features. Web-based setup/status pages are well-defined and easy to navigate. Wifi gives good performance on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands. Overall, stays continually connected to Centurylink and does its best to handle "strange stuff" that caused previous modem to lose connectivity (I am in a rural area at the end of a dead-end road!). Excellentdevice and much less expensive than one from Centurylink! Have installed latest firmware version (1.0.0.2). Can only report on ADSL capabilities; my provider (Centurylink) at this location only provides ADSL2+ with "Dynamic IP Address (IPoEoA/MER (MAC Encapsulated Routed) with DHCP) ". Tried doing Auto-detect, but modem would not connect. I fumbled through various manual settings (using semi-educated guesses) and eventually got a connection. Speed tests show much improvement over my previous ADSL modem.Problem: when doing "Backup settings", the XML file creates successfully, but when I tried to reload it, get "File read failed". Tried about 10 backups. Each XML file had the same checksum, but none would load back. Called TRENDnet tech support. Person kept insisting I must use PPPoE mode with login and password (to be provided by Centurylink) (Dynamic IP mode does not require login/password)! Took awhile to get him past that roadblock.Eventually I made some slight change to the configuration (or did a magic incantation unknowingly) and the backup XML file then created would successfully reload! But I have no idea why this should be. Have reported problem via helpdesk ticket, but no solution as yet.

"Please contact our 24/7 support!" Why? All they did was blame my ISP faster than my ISP blamed the modem!
I have CenturyLink in the Mid-West area which was formerly Embarq. Completely different settings from those posted literally everywhere. CenturyLink(Embarq) uses DynamicIP with no login, no VLAN, and basically just plug'n'play. However even after finally figuring out the configurations needed from my ISP and successfully getting back online after the original CL modem/router bit the dust due to a lightning storm; I've been getting intermittent losses of connection in ways the modem cannot reliably show how. Unlike the CL modems which have constantly updating status metrics; this modem has a static status log you can only update manually. It also doesn't clearly show the weird disconnections I'm getting either. Now basic web browsing and general internet usage is fine. Connections that need to stay open constantly however tend to drop in odd ways and at random anywhere from every 15 minutes to every few hours. These connections being online games. What's weird is the inconsistency between games. No less than three games will outright disconnect of the four tested thus far. The fourth - Warframe - doesn't disconnect, but instead the chat server disconnects while the game continues running fine. I've done extensive testing of this disconnection. Since the majority of the gameplay is through a P2P hosted-server connection you would think that if I'm losing all internet connectivity that I would be dropping from the game regularly, or at least others dropping connection from me when I'm hosting. Everything in gameplay however is running smoothly, but my connection to the chat server is still getting reported as dropped and reconnected with an unspecified error code of 10054. Some think this error is related to Winsock, but I have my doubts there as I went through resetting my winsock and IPconfig and still get the error. The reason for the 1(no) star review is the customer support. After finally exhausting all possibility from my ISP checking my service lines; checking my PC for errors to the point of testing on a brand new install of Windows10 and even testing on a Linux system, I finally came to the conclusion it was likely a modem error. Something wasn't configured correctly. Maybe it closes idle ports autonomously? I don't know; I'm not the kind of IT professional that I am about to contact for customer support. I gave my report. His questions were:"Is this happening on the wired or wireless connections?" I answered "Both.""Do you know of anyone else in your area having this issue?" I answered "One other, but that's been on-going longer than mine."And without checking any status logs; without checking any settings; without even asking me to access the modem on my browser..."Then it's likely your ISP." I was immediately stunned, but still managed to ask "Even after all I and they have done to find out the cause? You know they are just going to blame the modem right?" He said, "Yup." Like he didn't care in the least. "Okay then, I'll call them back and see what else they can do."Congratulations TRENDnet support! You got yourself a return pending the arrival of a new modem from my ISP!I'ld use far more vulgar language here, but I'ld rather keep this review public...

Okay
The product was straightforward to setup. I used a PPPoE ADSL2+ connection from a local ISP. DSL connection was as fast as it should be. Wi-Fi range was typical in the environment it was in.Two issues:1. I wanted to reboot the device remotely to ensure all client devices reconnected using some IP changes I made. The restart button in the management section should reboot the device, right? No, what they meant is factory reset. Translation issue, I'm sure, but I had to set it up over again.2. The support for Upnp services and Apple's bonjour and web services is poor. It worked when I set it up, 20 minutes later, it was not working. Reboot everything, and the same thing happened 2 more times. Firmware was up to date. Issue was not present with the previous router. Setting the printer up to print via IP address directly worked every time, but in this case I needed the web services, so ultimately I had to return it.

N'a jamais vraiment bien fonctionné.

Intermittent internet with teksavvy on telus network
I have ony had this modem for a weak and will update the rating in due time. The first problem I'm having is intermittent internet connectivity with teksavvy on Telus network. I've lost count of how many times I have had to reboot the modem, Atleast once a day. The second is the 5gighz wireless A/C signal is weak. The 2.4gighz G/N has good signal. But I bought this modem for the wireless A/C, so now I have to use bridge mode and a router. I still use this. While the connection is much more stable now I still have times where its slow and I need to reboot the Gateway. I'm currently looking to replace this with something better. To fix the problem where it wont save your settings after a reboot. you need to install firmware v.1.0.0.2 do a google search for FW_TEW-816DRM_v1(1.0.0.2).zip the download will be in the first link. v1.0.0.3 of the firmware has the problem where it won't save your settings after a reboot.

Made it sound like it would work with Telus VDSL
Made it sound like it would work with Telus VDSL.. it is sitting collecting dust. Yes I am very tech say have configured many many routers.. I can it find the Telus VDSL settings required to make this work properly. TRENDNET was of no help. If ANYONE can help with the settings with Telus TV settings I would be happy to update this review.. until then stay away...
