This is great for the Christmas tree. Quality is good, very sturdy. I run it around the Christmas tree in the Winter, and it never gets stuck on pine Needles (it doesn't pick them up at all). Easy to set up, and able to withstand my two year old poking it in excitement, or driving it stop/go/stop style. I like the looks. Would recommend to anybody looking for a big train to use at Christmas time. Size is perfect. It could use a couple of extra straight track pieces, but you can buy them on Amazon for a minimal price.

I bought this to go around the Christmas tree. I was a little worried based on some of the bad reviews, but everything came fast and in perfect condition! I assembled the track and was up and running in 15 minutes. The locomotive and cars all are very detailed and realistic looking. The decor on the locomotive is a combination of metal and plastic parts, so be careful what you’re grabbing, but for anyone who understands that this is a model railroad, and not necessarily a “toy”, it’s a great value!

I ordered this train set use around the Christmas Tree. I am very pleased with the train set. It ran perfectly right out of the box. This set added a great touch to our Christmas Tree during the holidays, so much so that we have a new family tradition. We have had no issues with the train set and have used it 3-4 hours per day during the month of a December 2016, only adding alittle oil as needed. I fully recommend this this train set.

it’s not terrible, but it’s not great. the couplers are difficult, the track is chincey, the sounds are awful and the whole thing feels cheap, especially the tracks.the positive, it’s pretty quiet running and smooth throttle response

I purchased this to put around my christmas tree. I love the size of it. Its large, looks great,very well made. The only thing i would change on it is i would add a whistle to the chugging mechainsm. I love that it sounds like a real train. Just wish it had a whistle too. I would highly recommend this product. If you want to make this bigger then buy the "g" scale straight and curved track.You can purchase these seperately.

Pretty easy to set up overall. A bit tricky getting the cars placed on the track due to the curves of the track, there is only two sections of straight track, rest are curved. Fits well under a 7 foot tree. Just wish it had a whistle in addition to the steam engine sound. Our two cats love watching it go round the tree.

Everyone loves this train. Great addition to the Christmas Tree. The kids are overjoyed with it. I Would buy it again.

We bought the Night Before Christmas Ready to Run Electric Train Set Large G-scale for Christmas. We purchased it off Amazon for close to $400 in September. When we got it out after Thanksgiving to place around the tree it went around three times and stopped running. We did all of the checks suggested to do by Bachmann but nothing worked. We then contacted Bachmann by phone and email and received no reply. We then purchased another train (not a Bachmann and it ran like a charm). When Bachmann finally replied to one of our many emails, the Service Manager Laura Harris told us that we could send it back to them, on our dime, and they would repair it. When I told her that we were only interested in returning the not working train for our money back since they never got back to us until January 2021 and after we had to purchase a new train. This is terrible customer service and I would seriously consider this before buying a train from them. I am happy to report that Amazon took care of us and was so nice and listened to what all went on with the train. It was after the return date and Amazon understood our situation and is letting us return the train and extra tracks for reimbursement. Thank You Amazon for doing the right thing when Bachmann Trains did not. I would not buy from Bachmann. Terrible train and even terrible customer service.

Amazing product took me a while to figure out how to connect them securely, which is very simple smoke unit smells like smoke which I love especially because it’s a model train

The box the train came in was not in great shape but everything appeared to be in new condition inside the box and I put it away until closer to Christmas. When I unpacked the train some wheels needed to be put back on which is to be expected. However, one of the trucks on the coach car was actually broken. Since I didn’t fully unpack the product within the return time I’m stuck with it with no recourse. Even if you’re not going to use a product right away, unpack and inspect it. Lesson learned.

The quality is not there. I had to re-solder the track power connector to get the train to run (if I wasn't a mechanic, the kids would've been very unhappy on Christmas). Once I did get it running, The synchronized sound didn't work. I didn't try the smoke feature. The 3rd party that it was sold by, when questioned, said that "The manufacturer has a lifetime warranty" and gave me a 1-800 number. I haven't called them yet and I'm not going to attempt repair myself as warranty would be void. If I had to do it all over again,,,,, I wouldn't.
