I recently purchased the Seagate Game Drive for PS5, and I must say it has been a fantastic addition to my gaming setup. As an avid gamer, I often find myself running out of storage space on my console, and this external hard drive has provided the perfect solution. I was hesitant about getting this. It was pricey, around £78 at the time and I was worried it wouldn't work or corrupt my PS4 or I'd do something wrong. It was a big decision. Anyway, it was the cheapest at the time and the only official PS4/PS5 external hard drive available, plus it was brand new. eBay had a few, a little cheaper but they were used and well, you never know what you're buying when purchasing a used hard drive or any used electronics for that matter. The hard drive has 2TB of space, no more, no less. 2TB is tons of space. I've already almost filled the entire thing. I had around thirty physical copies downloaded onto it, then I got over excited and starting browsing and buying digital games off the PS Store. Currently I've managed to fit around 39 to 42 full games and some expansions onto the hard drive, with maybe just under 300 to 500GB left. Some of these games were small, 1GB, some quite large, 45+GB. I need to save room for Elden Ring's expansion :D I'm betting that will be 45 to 80GB. Note that you have to turn off the hard drive before turning off the PS4. You do this by holding the PS button on the controller, which brings up a menu, you navigate to Sound/Devices and turn off the hard drive. Then it will tell you the PS4 is safe to switch off. The guide tells you this anyway when starting up the hard drive for the first time, so don't skip those short tutorials. It's pretty much plug and play. So, if you need extra space for your PS4 and who doesn't. Get this hard drive while it's cheap(under £100).

Bought this to use with my PS5 as I quickly got to the point where games (PS4 & 5) couldn’t even update without deleting content, and finally I was in the position where I had to delete something I was wanting to use regularly. (Why Sony persist on initially releasing hardware with storage unfit for purpose I don’t know but that’s another debate!). Anyway this 2 terabyte hard drive is the solution. Plenty of storage, not too expensive and very simple to use. Plug it in the back switch on the PS5, go to storage in settings, format the drive when requested which takes only a few seconds and transfer all your PS4 games across to the new drive. It gives an option to automatically install PS4 games to this drive. Your internal SSD in the PS5 will then have plenty of space. Games play just as quickly/smoothly from this drive with no noticeable difference. When an appropriate Sony authorised SSD becomes available I will probably upgrade to that as it is not possible to play PS5 games from this drive although they can be stored on it. I’ll then use this drive as a back up storage device for other files. Well worth the investment.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a great product and to me, easier than fitting an internal expansion. Games transfer between console and drive easily and it worked straight away out the box, no problems at all. When ordering, I mistakenly thought you could play games directly from the external drive and on a PS4 apparently you can, however with a PS5, you have to transfer your game back to the console in order to play it, don’t get me wrong, it’s still faster to transfer than to load the game from scratch but just wish you could play directly from it. It’s something to do with the speed of the PS5 being faster than the external drive. Anyway, good product, I do not regret buying it.

Absolutely love this as it helps with my storage capacity for my new ps5. Very good price for a hard drive and simple to use. Can play PS4 games from it and move any games I don’t use or want to free up space with onto it. I have about 8 games on the hard drive now and it’s nowhere near 1TB yet of storage I have used so far let alone it’s a 2TB drive. So I would say it’s definitely worth it. However the only thing I don’t like about it is that it makes a little bit of noise when I turn on my ps5 it isn’t too loud but you can hear it which is a bit annoying. But other than that I would totally recommend this to anyone with a PS4 or ps5 console.

Really straight forward setup. Once it’s up and running you can forget about it as it just works seamlessly. I accidentally corrupted it when my Play Station had a sudden loss of power after pulling the extension lead out the wall and it had really straight forward on screen repair steps that fixed it all with no data loss. Only con is you have a small box constantly tethered to your PlayStation and the PlayStations USB ports are on the from so it looks a little untidy. It’s a small price to pay as now I can have what feels like unlimited games all installed and ready to go on my PlayStation where as before I had to complete a game and then delete. Oh also I have COD which is always a space invader. Not any more!

Bought this to add storage to my PS5. It is very easy to install just plug and play. Once attached to the PS you have to format it sop it is able to work, but this a very easy task since the the PlayStation will inform you and you have to just accept. You cannot play PS5 games directly from it, so if this is used to store such games, you have to transfer it back to the PS5 to be able to play (which is very fast). For PS4 games, you can play the games directly from the Hard Drive

You can store and play ps4 games smoothly using the storage but you can only store the ps5 games you can’t play them, if you want to play the ps5 games you will have to transfer it back to the console Storage. i recommend it for PS4 Games only.
