Pet MD Veterinary Tris Flush Cat & Dog Ear Cleaner - and Infection Treatment with Ketoconazole 12 oz

Our usual brand of ear cleaner/flush was out of stock. Out of desperation, I purchased this to try. This is an ear cleaner or flush, it is liquid, basically the consistency of water. This product has a very light scent which initially I was concerned about, but it is actually a pleasant kind of cucumber scent, not strong at all. It contains ketoconazole, which our vet recommended. This product turned out to actually be better than our old cleaner/flush that was out of stock. This product is great for removing “gunk” from ears. For ear issues, we generally use a big squirt in each ear, gently rub the base of each ear and then let the dog shake it out, (best done outside). I like doing it this way initially since ears can be painful and tender when inflamed. We do this flushing daily and after about a week, once ears aren’t as tender, we soak a couple of cotton balls in this cleaner. Put one in each ear and rub the base of each ear, then remove the cotton ball and gently use additional cotton balls to wipe the ear as needed. This product has saved us many vet trips and has become our new “go to” ear cleaner/flush. It is not an instant fix, it takes a week or two to begin seeing improvement. Once ears are healthy, we use this as a flush, once a week or so to help keep bacteria and yeast away. For dogs with extremely painful or swollen ears, we do still make a trip to the vet for a prescription ear medication containing a steroid for more immediate relief.We definitely recommend this ear cleaner/flush. It works great and the price is fantastic.

Seems to work well in cleansing of our Golden Retrivers ear canals. He gets a large buildup of ear wax often in both ears and this does seem to help breakdown this ear wax. Using it as a ear wash he shakes his head after use dissolving most of the ear wax then you dry around the ear. I suggest do this outside because the wash with the dissolved earwax goes everywhere when shaking the head, it can be messy. It does have a pleasant smell.

One of my dogs ears are continually dirty. its as if he buries his head in the dirt. Trying to keep them clean is a challenge. The dirt bothers him, because he rubs his head on the carpet and furniture to try and scratch the area.Squirting the liquid in, helps clean. I'm not convinced about how the dirt will discharge after that. But it does help loosen stuff up.It takes practice holding your dogs head steady. But they help.
