Mount Genie® Built-in Wall Mount for Google Home Hub 1st Gen

Just buy it—the installation was easy. All you need is a razor knife or a wall saw. Tape the template to the wall, level it, trace it, and cut the opening. > It comes with an extension cable, and I'm definitely planning to install more of these. I have my lights, thermostats, and cameras connected, and I can even make a call right from the wall. Come on—that's Jetsons-level cool! > My recommendation is that if you have electrical wiring nearby, add an outlet in the wall with a proper electrical box to keep everything looking clean. For now, I wall-fished the extension cable down into the basement and plugged it into an existing outlet, but adding a dedicated outlet behind it is my long-term plan.

Why no one has come out with a wall mounted smart screen is beyond me, this isn't perfect but a pretty darn good option to configure what is available to put a google hub on the wall. I read reviews and watched some videos of people installing. The biggest criticism seemed to be it not firmly snapping into place at the top. As a precaution from what others had said when cutting the hole I tried to make it tight towards the top of it, the plastic was bendable enough that I got it pretty tight but then... it was too tight and wouldn't snap in at all. Had to trim the drywall slightly a few times to get it to fit right and also snap in, but even if it didn't snap in the weight of the google hub keeps it in place. It seems like these are just run off a 3D printer, if anything it could be made of a more durable plastic to help with that "snapping in" issue at the top but overall a well designed solution to the problem.

Im in no way handy with tools so was hesitant to buy this having to cut a hole in the wall. Finally amped myself to do it. Ordered a drywall cutter traced the outliner of the holder that is provided. Got to cutting less than 10min and it was done. I did have issues with getting power to it but I whipped up something. Basically I made an extra hole bottom near the floor and passed the power cable through tied with a metal hair clip. Then I put a magnet through the hole that was made for the mount and started fishing. 5 minutes later I was able to get the metal with the magnet and pulled it out. Then tada it works. I did mess up by not using a stud finder because I made a hole and stud was there right down the middle. So the hub couldn't sit in. So yeah I bought a hole patch (a new experience for me as well) got the wall patched then retired now knowing where the stud was and all done ✅ looks great👍 very happy with it. All this took (including patching the first hole) 35 minutes

When you get this installed it looks great. Very clean and professional looking, like you know what you're doing. Before that, though, it's kind of rough. Granted, I installed it in wood - not drywall - so it was a lot harder from the jump. On top of that the wood was about 1.5" thick whereas drywall isn't so of course there were some dimension problems and I couldn't use the included pins to hold the plastic in place. Instead I used to wood glue and clamps and it basically worked. Probably need to do another round of wood glue soon but we'll see. The only actual complaint I have is that making sure the Hub stays in is tricky. It is probably because of my install method but the only way I could get it to not fall out was a few think strips of Velcro on the sides. The first time it fell out I bumped it so I figured whoops clumsy me. The second time no one was near it so I couldn't blame anyone other than the ghost and I'm pretty sure it wasn't him. The third time...well there wasn't a third time. In the end it's a really neat product that works just as you'd think, but definitely adjust for your own install as necessary.

This setup is fantastic! It works really well—especially if you can route the power cable behind the wall or through another discreet path. I’m using a Pixel Tablet as a Home Assistant display, and it’s super convenient to detach the tablet whenever I need it.

This product is amazing and I don’t know why Google doesn’t make and sell this themselves as this gives you a professional high-end looking smart home control that you can’t find anywhere else. Installs easy and looks beautiful. I get compliments on it all the time. Only thing to be aware of is how you’ll power the nest hub - I wired a standard outlet to this location and hid it in the wall right behind the hole for this bracket - not to code but it works.

It's a bit of a pain to get the top two clips in, but everything is sturdy, locked in, and tight if you perfectly cut the hole for this. Kit includes one strip of double sided sticky tape, but I didn't need it at all

Looks good. Not as stable as I would like

TL;DR: Great mount, does exactly what it says and looks clean. Only difference between what I received and what was pictured was the MOUNTgenie branding that wasn't in the listing's product photos. I happened upon this listing accidentally, but I'm very glad I did. I'm very happy with the way this turned out and looks. I had my Hub sitting on my kitchen countertop previously and it kind of added a bit of clutter. Raising it and mounting it into the wall has made for a very clean look. Installation was pretty easy – use a stud-finder to make sure you've got a clear location for the cut-out, use a level with the template to make sure it's straight, trace the template, then cut it out of the wall. I had intended to keep the drywall cut-out for easier patching down the road, but mine fell into the wall (heads up) – whoops. I also dropped one of the metal clips into the wall during installation as well, but it's holding very firm with 3. Fairly straightforward all around. I didn't want to create a new electrical outlet in the wall, so I just used a small cord grommet near the existing exterior outlet and ran the power cable through it. Looks pretty clean for my tastes. I didn't need velcro or anything some of the other reviewers had mentioned, but I could see the potential need to use something to affix the Hub to the mount if you were going to handling it frequently (to tap the screen or adjust the volume manually, etc) – the Hub is placed into the mount and is perfectly sturdy, but it's not held there by anything other than gravity, so it will move when you touch it. This shouldn't be a problem for the majority of people, I expect. Very happy with my purchase and the end result – I would recommend it.

Great product. Got delivered within 12 hours. So easy to install. Just cut out the template given and then snap the unit in place. Holds steady and the sound is not muffled even though the speaker is in the wall. Looks great.

This is well built, fits perfectly, no issues at all, clips hold it in solid, I am a bit nervous of bumping the tablet and it falling to the floor, but that’s the dock and tablet issue, not the mount problem. All in all very happy with it.

The Nest Hub Gen 2 does not sit in this wall mount. It hangs out and a feather touch sends it flying to the floor. I spent an hour trying to get it to securely fit in the mount to no avail. I wound up using trunking and super glue to adhere it to the inside of the wall mount. Not recommended unless you're prepared to use some ad hoc solution to keep it in place. Additionally, it would have been expensive even it had have worked. Not impressed at all.

Hält so gerade eben in der fassung
