This drill bit has been perfect for my DIY projects. This drill bit offers the right size and strength for a variety of tasks, making it a versatile addition to my tool collection. The reduced 3/8" shank fits easily into standard drills where my drill applies. It is make for general purpose, but good steel that gets the job done without too much wear and tear. During my recent project, the bit performed flawlessly, cutting through material with ease and precision. The black and gold finish not only looks great, personal opinion there :), but also provides added corrosion resistance as I am not the best at keeping my drill bits stored properly 24/7. This drill bit delivers so its in my toolset now and worth it, for the price at least, probably for any DIY enthusiast.

This is a very good quality 1-3/8" HSS bit. I used this bit to drill 16 holes in 5/8" low carbon plate steel and still cuts as good as new. Not the toughest application, but not the easiest either. I had some trouble with the belts slipping on the manaul press I was using and probably stalled this bit 100+ times in the first 4 holes, until I got that addressed (not good for the bit!). It never blinked. No chipping, spalling, or dulling really. I turned it 220rpms, used both emulsified water based and oil based cutting fluids in great quantities, the oil worked slightly better. I tried straight drilling full OD, boring out from a 1" pilot hole, and boring 1/2", 1", then 1-3/8", and suprisingly, chatter was much lower, stable, and cut much smoother with no pilot at all. All I did was touch the piece with a 1/4" bit to provide a center point and reservoir for cutting fluid and it cut well. The price for this size and quality of bit is crazy. At $35 prime shipped I would guess you would have to pay around 3x this to improve on it.

Worked very well for 16 holes in 3mm steel. When pre-drilling with a smaller drill before, the big drill does not wander and cuts really well. Recommend.

I am sure the product will work fine BUT it was advertised as (pack of 12) I only received 1 drill bit!
