Australian delicacy
Is Vegemite an acquired taste? For those of us who did not grow up with it, absolutely. I started my journey toward Vegemite enlightenment in 1992 as a high schooler preparing for an international student exchange. I was headed for Germany, not Australia, but the training program I was put through beforehand found me consorting with some of Australia’s finest teenagers. They had Vegemite. I tried it. I hated it. I think I was expecting something sweet, almost chocolatey. This is the furthest thing from chocolate. It’s salty yeast extract. If you’ve ever gotten to the end of a bottle of beer on lees (like a Trappist ale or something similar) and decided to try the sludge on the bottom, you’ve got a bit of an idea of what Vegemite is like. Imagine the flavor of a strong, fragrant, salty cheese without the cheese.Butter some really good toast, then spread some of this on as thinly as you can. For a real treat, add some avocado and/or a poached egg.

Odd but Tasty
Very salty, so only use a tiny bit. Reminds me a little of soy sauce. The taste is very different, but I like it. (Does this make me an honorary Australian?)

Salty
I have to admit I tried this just to experience something new. Now I'm hooked. I put it on my plain bagel every morning. Yes, it is salty but I love salty. I think the boost in vitamin B's also helps but it could just be my imagination. I have this on subscribe now since I can't find it locally.

Mineraly dog food
Literally tastes like the smell of dog food, but without the meat. Pure minerals. I tried man, but it's awful. If you love eating dog food and the taste of vitamins with heaping spoonfuls of salt, this is for you. If your taste buds aren't broken, stay away.>but you used too much!!>its supposed to be a thin layer!!!>it shouldn't be an even covering for beginners!!!!>you should've used butter!!!!!I did it all. It's beyond awful in any amount because it tastes like pure salty vitamins and minerals. It has no redeeming flavors in the least, a single droplet is instantly and immediately unpleasant regardless of how much butter you mix it with.

It’s vegemite - but close to expired
Kind of annoying to receive old stock manufactured in 2-23 and “best before 2-24”. Yeah, I get it won’t be right off the manufacture line but should have longer freshness period.

L.O.V.E. IT!
ive always heard about this but never had the chance to try it. At first i was a little taken back because it was like nothing i have ever tried before. However after trying it twice it really started to grow on me. Now i cant live without it! It really loads me full of energy too, which is probably due to the high B vitamin content. If you have never tryed it before i recommend giving it a shot. 😁 aaaahhhh but know this first. It is a bitter. Its not sweet. Like beer? You'll fare well with this. To try this for the first time, butter some toast, then scrape some on top of the butter. Not too much, about the size of maybe 2 peas. It will turn brown mixing with the butter when you scrape it on. Then enjoy!

Men at Work Down Under Vegemite Sandwich
Thank you Amazon for making this Vegemite available! Always wanted to try a Vegemite sandwich ever since I heard that Men at Work song. Awesome and yummy, best tried while listening to the song!PS for noobs and tips from down under. Vegemite is best applied sparingly for greatest appreciation. When using it as a first time noob think of using it like you would habenero hot sauce, just a little bit is all you need for flavor. It is not peanut butter and is not meant to be slathered in hefty spoonfuls on bread. Less is more.

I love Vegemite!
It is hard to find in local stores, and with the Covid Quarantine in place I am not going to go hunting. The shipping made it way more expensive than buying it off the shelf, but I really wanted it, so I paid it. --For those readers who may not have tried it. There is Vegemite and there is Marmite. They are similar but totally different in taste. The Marmite has wheat. Chances are you you will love it or hate it, and that's the bottom line.
