Ape

The text in this book is good, but it almost seems superfluous compared to the absolutely incredible artwork. As an artist and an educator, I find these depictions of the apes not only accurate but engaging for all ages. Yes, it mentions that humans are apes, but scientists categorize animals by like features and we are classified as apes, whether you are a student of evolution or not.

I got this for my 3 year old, and it's maybe a bit old for him, but he still loves looking at it.

If you have an ape lover in the house, this is the book for you! The illustrations are spectacular - a household favorite with kids and adults alike.

The last page will assert that you and your little one are descended from the chimp. If you have a problem with that, you might want to skip this beautiful book

It's a book about four of the five great apes, which are orangutans, bonobos, chimps, and gorillas. It's kind of a summary, with some nice pictures of them. And then the fifth great ape is humans, and, you know, we're bad. But we're not altogether bad, because we're trying to protect them now! We were bad, but we're better now! Okay?There's no story. It's just a bunch of facts. The pictures are kind of cool, but there's nothing to follow. This book does not say that we are descendent of the chimp, but rather that we belong to the same family.The theory of natural evolution is never mentioned.In any case, this book is really fantastic.

This is a lovely book, both charming and beautiful. Vicky White's illustrations are breathtaking. Martin Jenkins words are poetry to be appreciated by children and adults. Ape is gorgeous and touching.
