Top of the Range Specs at Mid Range Prices
I have been a fan of Huawei phones since I got the P20 Pro nearly 2 years ago now, so when I needed a second phone for work, I naturally looked at the latest Huawei phones. The Nova 5T is one of Huawei’s latest and is a mid range price and comes with Google Play Services (so the full range of Google apps is available despite the USA/China spat). Out of the box, you get the phone with a built in screen protector on the excellent screen, a Super Charger and Super Charger cable along with a pair of wired USB-C earphones. The phone I received is a Midsummer Purple in colour, which looks very good, with a dual sim slot (even though the advert on Amazon said it was a single sim). The sims that are used are both Nano sim varieties. The specifications of the phone are similar to the P30 specifications, with a top of the range processor, 6Gb ram and 128Gb storage. The camera is also excellent with a huge range of options, including the fabled RAW photography functionality. It uses plenty of AI to get the right picture first time, and for most users (with settings like Macro, HDR, slow-mo and panorama), this will be an ideal camera too. An added benefit of the AI is also that the camera can do online searches from a simple shopping snap, along with QR scans. Security is covered in multiple ways with the power button doubling as a fingerprint scanner (it is very quick too) along with options like face unlock, pin, password and pattern. The fingerprint scanner is a part of the phone I feel could be better to be honest, and only because I can feel the edges of it as it is not chamfered. This is a small niggle though and not a real problem at all. In use, the phone has a battery that last for ages. I have had 4 days out of it with limited use and an easy 2 days with moderate use. This is also similar to the battery life I experienced with my old P20 Pro and was a pleasant surprise given the phone cost less than half the price of the P20 Pro. The one thing sadly missing from the phone is water resistance. Unlike most flagship phones now, the Nova 5T doesn’t offer any water resistence, so it is advisable not to use it in rain. Currently the phone comes with EMUI 9.1.0, which is based on Android 9.1. EMUI 10 is apparently being released for the Nova 5T in other countries now, so it should be coming to UK ones soon too. Overall, I am impressed with the phone, especially given the sub £400 price tag. It has flagship level features from 6-9 months ago, but at lesss than half the price. This makes the phone one of the best value for money phones at the moment. I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.

Excellent all rounder
Nice big IPS LCD screen. Clear to see. Moving from an AMOLED one, I noticed the difference at first, but after a week it makes no difference. Plus for a few days I was still using the screen protector it came with which made it hard to see in sun light. With a new clear tempered glass screen protector, Id say its equal visiblity wise to the AMOLED. I don't notice anything massively different tbf. Long lasting battery. I like the "ultra power saving" mode, because in this mode you can choose up to 6 apps that you can use. So I use this to prevent myself from being distracted by other apps, only allowing the essentials, and not having to charge it for ages. It charges super fast anyway. Size wise its actually a bit smaller than the average big phone these days. It is about 1cm bigger than the last phone I had (s10e). And im happy with it, whilst also not being gigantic like an 11 pro max. Most big screen phones are this size, and the nova 5t is about 0.5cm smaller. Huawei cloud also allows me to back up my notes, files, contacts, etc in one safe place, in addition to having phone finder. I also have them backed up in numerous google places, but it doesn't hurt to have them backed up there too. It will be much more stream lined incase my next phone is huawei. Camera is good too. Equal/better than the s10e, I use it occasionally, not that much tbh. Finally its very powerful. On the antutu rankings, its like the 35th most powerful phone out there at the moment. For the price and its relative "old age" in the smart phone world that kind of amazing. Aluminim frame also, so its solid and "properly" built, not with a plastic frame. I have nothing against plastic framed phones. Finally, it just looks great. Not sure what else to say, im happy with it.

Good all rounder but WIFI issues.
I bought this to replace my huawei p9 lite, although that was working well the 16gb memory wasnt enough. This phone had a superb camera with plenty of settings. Its battery life is good but my partners g8 power puts it in the shadows in that respect. The good news is it does charge fast if you have a heavy day of use. I've removed some of the huawei apps and i like the EMUI 10, but I'm used to using Haiweis EUMI. The screen is nothing special but shows colours well, a prefitted screen protector was in place when it arrived. The phone looks physically great however it is glass and therefore slippy, I'm sure it would smash if it dropped on to a hard surface. This phone really does need to be kept in a case. At this point you need to be warned, the finger print sensor is superb but many cases will make it awkward to use with it being on the side. My only gripe is the wifi, for some reason even when sat near my home router the wifi is slow and often freezes. I've compared this with using my partners G8 and my old P9 lite, its defintely the phone. All in all its a good phone but personally I'd be disappointed if I'd have paid the £399 first release price in 2019, luckily I paid much less.

Brilliant phone on par with my Galaxy S10
I bought this for my wife who's S7 was finally losing batter power. I have been blown away with the quality of this phone for such a low price. Comparing it to my top end Samsung galaxy S10 helps give a good benchmark to compare... Working Memory 5T = 6Gb S10 = 8gb You'll rarely (if ever) notice the difference but might a bit when using memory hungry app like video editors and converters. Storage Memory 5T = 128Gb S10 = 128Gb This is how much photos, videos, music etc you can store before needing to backup to clear some space. Camera Many people can get confused here and manufacturers do it to you on purpose! Phones cameras have essentially reached the best they can with tiny lenses they have. Manufacturers try to dazzle you with pixel numbers and multiple cameras on a single phone. Some of these 'extra' lenses maybe (slightly) useful for some people but it's basically all hype. For 90% of us taking photos the 'main' camera is the important one (Google if you're interested in the others). I'll list all the cameras below but remember it's the main camera which matters most. 5T Camera Main camera = 48MP (S10 is 12MP) Ultra wide = 16MP Macro Camera (5T only) = 2MP (Close pics) Depth camera = 2MP (helps auto focus) S10 Camera Main Camera = 12MP (5T is 48MP) Ultra wide = 16MP (Same as 5T) Telephoto (S10) = 12MP (improves zoom) Screen The S10 has an AMOLED which in theory is the best screen for colours and contrast (darker blacks). The S10 has a higher screen resolution as well (550ppi vs 420ppi). The 5T has a IPS LCD screen which in theory is inferior (though my have a sharper, more clearer image). In pratice 95% of us wont notice the difference. The colours on the 5T are very strong and are the same as my S10 when the saturation is set to Natural. If you're the one who's always playing with the TV settings trying to get the picture 'just right' you may notice the difference. I doubt many others will and if they do.would be bothered. Summary The Nova 5T is similar to the S10 with the key difference being the camera (5T wins) and the screen (S10 wins) and memory (storage is a draw but working memory S10 wins). But then you have to consider cost. At less than half the price of the S10 the Nova 5T is considerably better value for money and is essentially a high spec phone for a mid range price.

Great product. Nicely packaged. Came with 80% battery power. Easy to use. Had the same brand before so that helped

Very worth the money!
I was pleasently surprised by this product. The battery goes down very slowly, even when running larger apps. It comes with so many useful features that are very visibly displayed and easy to understand with very few hoops to jump through before you can actually use them. For good example, in the top menu, it has a Screenshot option easily displayed and accessable where as in most previous phone models you'd likely need to look up how to do it. There's even a Screen Recorder function to go right along with it, also very visibly displayed and easy to access. I do have a few complaints though. The phone is a bit big and kind of cumbersome as a result. Not to mention it has no basic headphone jack aside from ONE USB type 3 socket located on the bottom of the phone. This of course mean's that you can't use your earphones AND charge your phone at the same time. (unless you have Bluetooth headphones.) There's also the fact that the audio speaker is located on the bottom left hand part of the phone next to the USB socket, which if you hold the phone horizontally, is VERY EASY to accidentally cover with your fingers. Over all though, the phone is very good. The screen quality is stellar and the battery life is HUGE! Unless any of the minor complaints I mentioned before deter you, I absolutely recommend this product!

Brilliant phone for an almost strangely low price
This phone is absolutely amazing. Was debating this or a Samsung Galaxy A71 but the Samsung was double the price and had way less specs and a terrible camera in comparison. This phone is so so good and yes, still kitted out with every Gooogle service!! Plus it has ultra fast charging which is just amazing, charged in well under an hour. Processor is great and phone runs so smoothly and fast, camera is amazing, face recognition, fingerprint scanner, 128gb storage and 6gb ram, even a built in copy of Apple's Animojis. I am literally so impressed I can't get over it
