Responsive seller
Book arrived late, due most likely to disruptions in mail service that are becoming increasingly common, perhaps due to the pandemic. Seller was 100% responsive to my inquiry. Book finally arrived, and I’m looking forward to reading it this summer as it was highly recommended by a dear friend, whose literary opinions I value greatly. I ordered this copy because I didn’t want the one currently on the market that has the Oprah Book Club seal on the cover.

The book celebrates the foundation of simplicity and expresses a profound gratitude for love, family and a place to call home
One long prayer to a young son from his dying preacher father...but by the time you get well into the middle, you decide its worth the read. The book celebrates the foundation of simplicity and expresses a profound gratitude for love, family and a place to call home.

Questionable theology
A relative raved about this book and gifted me a copy. Full disclosure: I am not a huge fan of fiction. Gilead was difficult to keep my interest, yet beautifully written. Many unique and poignant descriptions. At the finish, I have two complaints. First, it was written by a woman from an old (male) preacher’s perspective. This is wrong because I believe that woman as pastors is wrong. I think this crosses a line.Secondly, there are theological problems. I wouldn’t pick at that as much with another fictional book, but because it is written from a pastor’s perspective I think the theological errors are more serious.
