THZ-002 Engine Coolant Thermostat with Gasket - Compatible with Select Mazda 2, 626, CX-5, Millenia, MPV, MX-3, MX-6, Protégé, Protégé5, RX-8 Scion iA Suzuki Grand Vitara, Vitara, XL-7, Yaris

Works great in my 2009 RX-8 R3. My mishimoto thermostat failed stuck closed after 70,000 miles of use and caused severe overheating issues. I chose not to buy another as it’s become very apparent that all mishimoto products are of very low quality and essentially nothing more than cheap eBay products with their logo painted or etched onto it with a much higher price tag. Of course I don’t have 70,000 miles of use with this one, however, right out of the box I put it in boiling water to test functionality and it opened and closed as it should without issue. Installation was easy as usual. My engine now runs significantly cooler whereas I was running between 220°-225° on average in 90°-100°+ weather and as high as 230°-237° on the highway in 6th gear between 70-78mph. Now I’m staying between 180°-195° under all driving conditions with this thermostat.

Perfect fit and the price was right. Works well and no leaks. Satisfied customer here, would recommend to others.

Seems to work in my 2003 Mazda Protege 5, note this thermostat does not come with a gasket, you will need to buy separately.
