This is a treasure trove of effectively new to me Scooby Doo cartoons. And even though these cartoons do feature Scrappy Doo, there is not really much difference between these and the 70's and early 80's Scooby Cartoons that preceded them. There are a few surprising pop culture references in these episodes. Shaggy mentions Star Wars in Strange Encounters, and Scrappy name drops Mick Jagger and other in the Neon Phantom. The final episode of this DVD set/season, The Ransom of Scooby Chief, appears to have been a backdoor pilot for the next incarnation. Fred Daphne and Velma are only at the beginning and end of the episode. Scooby and Shaggy get kidnapped and Scrappy teams up with his old friends, Annie and Duke, to save them. So instead of the much maligned short cartoons that followed featuring Scooby Shaggy and Scrappy, it could have been Scrappy Doo and Friends. Warner Bros did a good job with this release. The episodes look great. It has been a long wait to get these. Hopefully we don't have to wait as long to get more. Still Good
Very good. Scrappy is a little annoying after a while but still stays true to Scooby Doo Originals. Good villians. This season has the shows for the half hour format. Later seasons they ditch Fred and Velma and made short versions and ruined the show. The only bad episode this season was the last one, sort of meta, where Scooby gets kidnapped. Wish they would have blocked it for widescreen T.V..

Not much needs to be said for this gem. At last, we get the entire first season of "Scooby and Scrappy Doo", all together in one 2-disc DVD set. I really get tired of everybody hating on poor Scrappy. These episodes are fantastic. "The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld" is my second favourite Scooby episode of all time. Also worth noting is that these episodes are all with the entire gang. There are no 7-minute shorts with only Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy here. I got this for my son who is a Scooby Doo fan. Nothing available in the UK features Scrappy Doo, so I bought it on import. It’s as good as I remember and my son loves it! I was very impressed by how quickly it was delivered. Please note if you are going to be watching this in the UK you will need a multi region DVD player, as the USA is region 1 and the UK is region 2.
