Hard to say if it's worth the price, but it's definitely brilliant!
I wanted one of these (finally giving in) as my coffee goes cold while working at home. A lot. I just get concentrating on something and forget. After seeing these all over American stores while there last year, I just though, I've got a first world problem, so why not use a first world, over the top solution. Brilliant! So, I asked for one for Christmas. And sent it back, because I saw this one (ok, I picked the wrong one initially). The Ember cup doesn't have a lid, but you can get anything for that. Other reviews on other cups mentioned that they don't heat the last bit of coffee, but this one definitely does, with little left in. It says it turns off when empty, and it does seem so. What it definitely does well is keep coffee warm. I've been finishing cups now and it's freezing here (saving money on oil so we can get heated coffee cups...makes sense).I LOVE the battery in it. You can just walk over the house and sit with your hot coffee and not worry about it (about 1.5 hrs). The base needs to be plugged in, and it is unfortunate it does not have a USB connector instead of a regular 3 pin plug because that's one more socket taken up (an option would be nice as you can have a plug with multiple USB ports now). That's helpful in the electrified world we live in. But it does come with multiple connection types that slot into the plug to turn it from 3 pin into 2 pin and others, so it's definitely a good travel mug or one where you don't want to purchase yet another plug type. All in all, it really is a great cup to have around the house and which enables you to move around easily while keeping the cuppa warm. I forgot to mention, the other one I returned was all ceramic, and the Ember is stainless steel on the inside with a ceramic coating. That's really the trick and along with the battery, why it's more expensive, I think. Most are more pricey that are made like that, but it means it heats all of the cup and not just the ceramic from the bottom up. A very good cup!

How did I live without this mug
This is a game changer. It is now my gift for new mothers who never get to their hot drink before it goes cold. Yes, the paint chips if you stir it with a metal spoon or scrub it too hard, yes if you don’t scrub too hard the cup gets stained. Buy a wooden spoon and a dark color or stainless steel one and problems solved. I looked into the chipping and the internet told me that, although unsightly, it isn’t a health risk. It’s worth its flaws and I’m happy to keep funding this company by purchasing more and more for my new mummy friends until they can sort out the chipping.

it works well but its really overpriced
The mug is great, I never have a cold cup of tea or coffee waiting for me anymore. The battery lasts for over an hour (the longest I have tested it), and the app for android worked for me. Lots of others say that the app doesnt work for them, so that is something to note prior to buying. The concept of a smart mug that I have to charge seems stupid to me, and the fact that its over 100 pounds for a cup that will last a few years isnt really appealing, on top of it being terrible for the environment. That said, the cup does what it set out to do, and time will tell of its longevity. I would like it if the batteries were replaceable. Because if it does only last a few years I wont be buying another one.Only complaint is that once you have gotten half a cup drank the rest of the liquid seems to get super hot.Overall, its stupid, gimmicky, and overpriced. But I really like it!

The cup you never knew you needed
The best mug I've ever bought. Having your drink at the right temperature until you finish it is strange at first. In a ordinary cup the beverage gets cold. Not in this - set the temperature at the desired level and your drink will be hot until the last sip.Well made, easy to use and charge. The app is straightforward to use too.Highly recommend.

Technically excellent, aesthetically poor
Update: I'm dropping this to one star. I've had the mug for three months, and a week after cleaning it with a denture cleaner - which is very effective - it looks like the photo attached to this review. A lot of people won't care how it looks, but for this price, it should be better designed. I'm only drinking tea; I can imagine that it might look worse with coffee. It feels dirty every time I make a new cup of tea. I regret buying this.As a regular tea drinker, and tea snob, I’m very happy to have a mug that keeps my tea warm, so I don’t have to drink it all in a hurry. I generally drink four mugs of tea a day, black tea, green tea, oolong, etc.. I choose from about two dozen tees that I have in my cupboard at any time. As long as I remember to charge this between cups, it keeps my teas warm. The aesthetic problems are annoying. I bought the white version, so I can tell when my teas are steeped correctly by their color. It stains almost immediately, and the stains are very difficult to remove. I have found that denture cleaners can remove most of them, and I will probably do this monthly, but that means for much of the time the inside of the mug is stained. It doesn’t matter once you have tea in the mug, but there is something about pouring tea into a cup that isn’t clean that is a bit disappointing.

Makes regular mugs feel "broken". But will it last? (Yes!)
Update: I've used this daily for a year and a half and it's literally one of the best things I've ever bought. I quickly bought a second one as a gift.Let's get this out of the way: for a mug with some fairly ordinary electronics in it, this is REALLY expensive. However, it looks and feels well-made and well-designed and - most importantly - it really works. So if do get an Ember mug as a treat for yourself, you can relax knowing that your purchase will be rewarded every time you use it. Having that last cm or two of tea or coffee at work remain as hot as the first sip really feels like magic. I know it makes me happy. I'm thinking about getting a second mug for home…. and possibly another as a gift!

Keeps my tea hot!
Love this, does what it says on the tin. Wish battery lasted a bit longer though before recharge.
