Good, but kinda depressing
Well written and informative from the perspective of a writer outside the TST.I'm having a hard time getting through it, to be honest. It's educational to learn about the history of TST, but they face nothing but opposition and obstacles every time they try to make progress in social change. They're putting in hard work and seemingly getting nowhere because of the power and influence wielded by the opposition. At least they're bringing some other perspectives to dialogue surrounding separation of church and state and things like reproductive health rights, but most government officials write them off as a joke church, saying they're something that started as a prank, and that their purpose is to be nothing but offensive. Which is depressing. They're a legitimate church recognized by the government and IRS and everything, so they have done everything by the book. It's way too easy for someone to destroy all your efforts with slander and heresay. So, it's informative as all heck, but to me, it's also bleak.

Excellent book on the TST and everything they do. Highly recommend this book for literally anyone, whether you're in the TST, have a friend/family member who is, or you're just interested in learning about religious freedom, this book is for you.

Fascinating!
I was fascinated by this group and was curious about their backstory. This book gave me that but so much more. Highly recommend!

Not TST _vs._ American Christianity; TST _and_ American Christianity
A very good discussion from someone who is not a member of TST, and someone who has a lot of knowledge about Religious Pluralism. Many questions are asked; much information is given; the answers are personal. If the United States really has the ideals we proudly proclaim, then we need to accept the reality of what that means

Short but Very Informative
I cannot stress this enough; if you are looking into becoming a TST Satanist and value understanding the beginnings and issues that have arrived since it's creation, look no further than this book! I had started becoming interested with the documentary Hail Satan? and have since then been incredibly fascinated by this. I'm the kind of person that does a lot of research before I make a decision, and this book by itself really put the nail on the coffin on deciding to be a Satanist.

Excellent
I highly recommend for new Satanists; especially new members of The Satanic Temple. My only knock against it would be some of the verbage and use of vocabulary are a bit over the top.

Great til about midway through
This gave an excellent history of TST from many perspectives, most importantly the former members and even the detractors. I'd read up on what I thought was obscure history on the TST through many news articles and opinion pieces and I must say the author is pretty thorough and doesn't leave much out. I was pleasantly surprised to see mention of the 2002 podcast incident, connections to the Process Church, and well reasoned explanations for the manifold apostasies and a fair perspective on the Church of Satan. One thing I was slightly annoyed with was how I felt I was reading a master's thesis midway through the book on the essence of religions and whether a religion can be atheistic. It appeared like the author had other points to prove besides giving an objective history. Not that his other points were negative or critical, they were just pretentious, glib, and irksome. Although I guess he did give fair warning about that part earlier in the book and I guess that was the ultimate point of the book.

Fascinating read
This an interesting read showing the hypocrisy of the Christian right in the USA. Well worth your time if you're interested in such things

A Book That Educates The Uninformed
For the uninformed about the treasure of Satanism, this should cure your confusion and misconception. To understand TST further, this non-fiction gem should be that guidance to the right path.
