Read a lot about this case over the years however nothing like this. Well written & expertly told this book is remarkable
Blown away and extremely impressed with this account of the case that is no doubt one of the most notorious crimes in Canada. It instantly comes to everyone's mind when asked what the most infamous crime in our country was. I've read a lot about this case over the years, however, what I read before was nothing like this. Well written and expertly conveyed, this book is simply remarkable. As a fan of true crime, you will not be disappointed. Vronsky is a master of his craft and a first rate author. The transcribed videos of these two together was truly the stuff of nightmares. I did in fact have a fitful nights sleep after reading it. The extent of Paul Bernardo's depravity completely blew me away. I mean we all have a general idea of how sexually deviant a rapist is by the nature of their crime, however the insight we get from the details on these videos shows a level of degeneracy that shocked me to the core. And Homolka? well I'm still a bit torn of what to make of her. Ruthless? Undoubtedly. Cold-blooded? You bet. However was she as bad as Bernardo? I may not be too popular saying this but I don't think she's quite as sick as he is. Feel free to disagree with me but I don't think she would have done those things on her own. With what I've read so far about this case, she was led by him and his deviant sexual needs, and agreed to them because of her ruthless nature to do whatever it took to get what she wanted. And she wanted a picture-perfect life that she thought Paul could give her. But who know really.Highly recommend this one to all my fellow fans of True Crime.

Very sick couple.
I was not aware of this crime before I read the book. This not a murder mystery, it is factual book about a very sick couple committing very sick crimes. Some of the explanation of what they did to young girls is hard to read. One thing for sure, Canada should have the death penalty for people like this couple.

Disturbing
The author actually gave me some new insights into the psychology of serial killers that I hadn’t read before, which was interesting because I have read a lot on the subject. But this book was pretty cringeworthy though. Ew. Some passages were pretty tough to get through and really questioned my faith in humanity.

When a man loves a woman
After reading this kindle edition, I came away deep in thought about the "Ken and Barbie" killers. It seemed their lust for each other drove them to kill. Karla Homolka was not the innocent girl people thought she was. Paul Bernardo, on the other hand, was born into evil despite his upbringing. Underneath his good looks and charisma, lied a profound darkness that consumed him for the rest of his life. In my opinion, he is where he deserves to be, behind bars that will forever hold him. Karla Homolka seems to have gotten what she always wanted; children and a husband that loves, supports, and protects her. Something she never had before. Peter Vronsky wrote a very compelling piece of non-fiction in the true crime genre. He has a high recommendation from me

Very difficult subject matter--more than disturbing
The writing was fine. And I generally prefer true crime books over other genre because I like finding out about what happened and better yet, why. But honestly, this couple is SO absolutely despicable, the book was hard to read and I just couldn't finish it. That is not the fault of the author at all but that of his subjects. It's very hard for me to have to believe that there are people like this and I just wish it wasn't so. I don't know what happened to them but my opinion is, if you didn't believe in the death penalty before, this account just might make a believer out of you.

Very graphic .
I knew it was going to be graphic, but didn't realize how much. I kept flipping pages forward to get through the really bad parts.Karla got away with murder and one of the most appalling scenarios to think about is she took part in her younger sister's long, tortuous death. What is wrong with our laws in this country? She got a free pass to live out her life, amongst the rest of us in her lawyers negotiations to get her serial killer husband convicted. She belongs in prison for life too, just like her psychotic, sociopath, murdering "thing" she called her husband. Shame on our court system; they really failed here.

Not what I expected.
Hadn't originally noticed that this was a very short book. I had known a lot about this couple, but was hoping to get more details regarding the crimes. In addition to their (3) most horrific murders, Paul had apparently committed numerous sexual assaults. These were mentioned quickly, and with little detail or follow-up information. The information on the murders were just rehash of previously known facts.I guess I expected more from the latest publication on this case.

Peter Vronsky did a great job telling the story of Paul Bernardo and Karla ...
Very well written book on this case. A must read for all true crime readers. Peter Vronsky did a great job telling the story of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka (the Ken and Barbie Killers). Explicit language and graphic details but that is the only way to truly tell the story of these two monsters. Hard to put down once you start reading this. Very horrific crimes by 2 people that seem like they could have had a good life but instead chose to terrorize, torture and kill young women and videotape their cruel crimes against this innocent young women including her own sister. This is the third book in the Series Crimes Canada. 1 book released every month in this 24 book series. Great reads and horrific crimes can't wait to read them all.

Electrifying!
I couldn't put this book down. Not only is the subject spellbinding (in a horrifying way) but the book is so we'll written.I rarely read stories of murderers or descriptions of crimes but I'm pleased I decided to purchase this one. The details of the crimes are chilling but told with enough empathy to make them palatable.

Sick and twisted couple
Excellent book!! Well researched and a lot of details that were not known to the public before. I was shocked to read parts of letters and transcripts from court. Amazing how sick these two really were. It is hard to imagine how Karla so willing took part in the crimes; based on the information of personality types and childhood backgrounds. The police made a deal with the devil in regards to Karla and her lying about not being a willing participant. It sickens me to know how she played up being the victim prior to her deal. I wonder how she would feel now if someone did these horrific things to one of her own daughters; considering she said she’d have Paul’s children to rape. She should still be in prison. I also hope that Paul never gets out. He will never be reformed and is a danger to society.

Excellent book
This book is about a couple who rape torture and murder their victims, one went on for 3 days! I think she is just as bad as him for her part and she should be still in prison now and the rest of her life! If you like true crime you will love this book

Good Overview of Evil Personified
Quick refresher on a horrific period in Canada's recent past. Focusing less on the gruesome details, the author gives a good overview of the timeline and explores the hoax successfully put forward by Karla. The systemic sexism that leads the legal system to believe they women are subservient and less evil than men has been manipulated to the benefit of this heinous person who is now enjoying family life with her kids and husband and undoubtedly without remorse.
