A great knife to add to your cutlery collection.
It is a heftier knife than other Global knives. It is holding its edge well and when I sharpen it I may send it out for sharpening or just use their 3 wheel water knife sharpener. I like the heft and the balance and it cuts meat, vegetables, bread, and other various items. I think it is worth the cost, however, I've only owned it for about a month.

Purchased for my son. It's fantastic. The weight is heavier than I thought which makes cutting effortless. Would easily buy again. Holds an edge a lot longer before needing to be sharpened.

This is a great knife!
I first bought a good knife when I splurged on a high carbon steel German chef's knife back when I was an undergraduate in the 70s. This new knife replaces my previous Global 8" chef's knife which was very good but not quite right for me. This one is actually heavier than my 9.5" Global chef's knife, which, like my previous 8", has a thinner spine. I keep my Japanese knives sharp with a two stage 15 degree sharpener and with a sharpening steel. They are sharp. But this knife with a thicker spine is not only sharp, it's a joy to use. When Global started marketing in America, their knives would often break because Americans push down while Japanese tend to slice/saw with the knife. So Global reinforced their knives for Americans. This knife, with a 4mm spine that tapers down to 3mm about two inches from the tip takes this Americanizing to a new level. My lighter 9.5" knife has a 2.7mm spine that taper down to 2mm about two inches from the tip. It's a great knife, and so was my previous 8" but this one feels special and is a real joy to use. It took a few days to adjust to the extra weight. The adjustment was well worth while and now I feel spoiled.

Excellent knife!
Excellent well-balanced knife with a razor sharp blade. However, tt should come with a protective sheath.

Perfectly Balanced
I decided to look into buying my personal chefs knife after going to so many houses and nearly losing a finger because everyone’s knife is dull! I was able to do the super cool paper slice thing, finely dice veggies, and crush garlic. This knife is very comfortable to hold, easy to clean, and holds its edge very well.

Waited too many years to try Global
I’ve spent my life a die hard Wusthof loyalist. I remember early 2000’s seeing some guys with Globals in the kitchen thinking how silly that steel handle looks and there’s no way that feels good in your hand. Well I finally tried it and it’s been the knife I use 90% of the time now. I’m not in a production kitchen these days, but I would have liked to have this knife back when I was. Highly recommend. Only thing I’d say is make sure to hone it on a ceramic rod with every use. I’ve never had to put mine to a stone bc of that. Best knife I’ve used in my 45 years!!

Best Global Model, one of the best Japenese Kitchen knives for the money
Fantastic, not my first Global. My first was about 30 years ago, quality is still excellent. This has a thick spine....if your tired of thin bladed knives, just spend the money to get this.
