Aquascape29004 Signature Series Skimmer 6.0 & 8.0 Filter Mat for Pond Water Feature Waterfall Landscape and Garden

I purchased this pad to help me filter algae out of my pond. I have to clean it daily, but it is doing the trick in helping me remove algae faster than the coarser weave filter. The hole was recut, and in the correct spot. Seems to be holding up well with daily rinsing. Fits in my Aquascape skimmer.

I always used this for my pond. I changed a while ago to the green media pad which was supposed to be more effective and sturdy etc. It was not..It cracked every time when you put it down on the skimmer pump. It was not effective at all. I then went back to this sponge media which is effective, reliable and reasonable.

I am here looking for a new filter mat after only one year. I bought this in July of 2013 and was thrilled that it was an exact size and looked to be just like the original that was at least 6 or 7 years old. This is not the original quality, this thing is falling apart, stretching out and getting thinner. Luckily I had kept my old filter, it is back in the filter and this one is in the trash. I am going to buy directly from aquascape for a few dollars more and pay shipping, I hope they haven't changed to this one also. As a note, mine came from Pond and Garden Wholesalers,don't know if they are different from different sellers.

what you cant see, there is a pre-cut hole to punch out where your pump goes! I started to cut a hole till I saw that, the generic ones I had found (before I found these) had to be cut, so much nicer to have the pre-cut! it fits my skimmer perfectly. so glad to have found these.mine lasted 4 years. just now looking for a replacement again in 2018. had a hard winter of constant freeze and thaw on the top of the water, I think that effected it.

thinner than original pad, which had two punch-out holes.this pad has only one punch-out hole, meaning I don't have to pin unused hole in place with 1/8 inch fiberglass rods (3).

Authenic Product but too pricey for a piece of foam..

It splits into two pieces easily in a short period.

I like the material but I don't like the built in holes. The unneeded hole punched in material fall into the sump and allows unfiltered solids to reach the pump strainer to clog it up. I tried to plug the hole but no luck long term.
