Great Family Movie
I rented this for my grandson and he loved it. He watched the entire movie without getting up even one time. I have never seen this super active 4 year old this quiet and calm for this long unless he was sleeping. I must admit that the adults enjoyed the movie as well. Great family movie, however it did have a few curse words that were not necessarily for the movie plot.

Great follow up to a fantastic movie
My seven year old is hooked on this movie! She watches it at least once a week. It's a fantastic prequel to Monsters, Inc that shows the viewer how Mike and Sulley first met in college. It has a great message for the kids that although you can't be good at everything, as long as you do the best you can at what you do, that good will come of it. There are some hilarious moments that will make kids and adults alike laugh out loud, Easter eggs for fans of the first movie, and as far as prequels go this one certainly builds up the Monsters universe. The digital version is great because I don't have to have a physical copy of the Blu-ray cluttering my house.

Good but it’s no Monsters Inc
Monsters University was the sequel to Monsters Inc. It was about how Mike and Sullivan became friends while they were in school together. Bigger picture it was how the two young monsters found themselves in a coming of age tale. The problem was it wasn’t half as funny as the original. More importantly the story wasn’t as compelling. That didn’t mean it wasn’t worth watching though. Just don’t expect as much as the first.

Good family fun, but falls short of the original
I purchased Monsters University because my 2-year old son was obsessed with Monsters, Inc. He would repeatedly request to view it over and over again. Sound familiar for other parents? For my wife and I, this was special because Monsters, Inc. was the first movie or show that was over one hour where he would sit still and truly be watching. We knew because he remembered the characters and would try to roar for himself. Too cute.Given the above, we made the move to purchase Monsters University when it came out. Not surprising to say, but he loved it also and has requested seeing it again a few times since. In general though, I will say that he and we (the parents) both prefer the original to the sequel. Not atypical, but here's a few reasons why below. My reasons as an adult/parent that I didn't give Monsters University five-stars are as follows:- The plot is much more formulaic than the original. There are still some twists and turns, but it was pretty obvious for the most part what was going to happen. The (partial spoiler alert) "Scare Games" seemed to be a common way to go through successive challenges, like any other movie or even video game.- Most of the characters were more cliche in terms of college; the jocks, the cheerleaders, the nerds, etc.- For whatever reason, I felt the jokes were more original/crisp in the first- Inconsistencies with story from original; see below. Some inconsistencies (also spoiler alert):- It still wasn't very clear why Randall would eventually become so mean to Mike in the original, given they were roommates in college. Most of his battles/gripes seemed to be against Sully moreso than Mike.- In the original, Mike says he knew Sully since the 4th grade (or something to that effect); but he clearly just meets him at University in the sequel.I really don't have any gripes against the inconsistencies. I just noticed them after watching the movie a million times with my son. That's what happens to you as a parent, but I digress...Anyway, if your son/daughter liked the first, they will most likely like this as well. It's a fun extension of the original and does add to the background somewhat. I hope they make a third one that is not straight-to-video. Maybe we'll see Boo grown up and the laugh factory, but hard to say...

Better than Monsters, Inc.
My wife and I found this to be very entertaining and better than the original Monsters, Inc. Yes, the fact that Mike and 'Sully' didn't meet each other until MU goes against what was said in Monsters, Inc., but hey, Disney didn't know they were going to come out with this "prequel" when they made the first movie. So, overlooking this minor plot violation is not hard to do.Overall, I agree with other reviewers about the plot--it's not your typical "everything's perfect and everyone lived happily ever after" ending (though, everyone does live happily ever after). It showcases that failures in life occur, no matter how badly you want something or how much you try your hand at something--you just might not ever attain proficiency with it or even be successful at all. But, the movie also offers hope that there are other ways you can obtain joy and satisfaction in life--if not the way you originally planned to obtain such joy and satisfaction. I think we are very much missing that in our society today.

Monsters University is the Prequel to Monsters Inc Your going to Love it
fun Disney Pixar movie the kids will love it. Great addition or shall I say Prequel to Monsters Inc. Monsters University is a must have to any Disney Movie collection. Concerned about the fear factor for kids ... the Dean of Monsters University looks pretty scary. I felt that she might of been too scary for my youngest. My concerns were quickly washed away when I leaned over and asked him if he thought she was scary and his reply was, “No Mom she’s really cool. She has wings. ” Gotta love boys. You’ll love all the great features of Monsters University because it gives you flash of all the fabulous things about College and developing challenges like studying and building friendships. You see Mike and Sulley weren’t always friends but it was their fear of getting kick out of Monsters University Scare School that had them join forces to become the greatest scarer’s ever.

«Kein Monster-Job ohne Monster-Studium...»
