this has been a great book to begin the discussion of immigration
My daughter had to read this book this summer for her reading project for her freshmen year of high school. It was a slow start. However, this has been a great book to begin the discussion of immigration. The book has opened up dialogue in our home, community, and with documented and undocumented immigrants. It gives the human perspective to a tough political issue.

Let’s hear it for the underdog.
I was a witness to this wonderful story that changed a whole town as far as immigration, underdogs, and perseverance is concerned. It is a quick read and will hopefully change your hearts as well.

Good Guys Do Finish First!
Bought this book for my son, a soccer coach here in NC. Like the author, we too have had to deal with the struggles of building a successful soccer program from scratch. Although we haven't won the state championship, we have had some successes and we can relate to everything the author and his team went through. It was easy reading and I found the story very captivating. Recommend this book not only to fans of soccer, but any person looking for a motivational story!

Soccer as a metaphor for social change
This guy knows how to write about soccer AND the social changes brought on by the Latino migration. It is a tremendous soccer story about kids who don't always have the easiest life. It is a view into their world. Their troubles and triumphs! I have read this twice and am on my third time! If you like soccer and are concerned about the social issues of immigration this is the book for you.

This story of this book is the story of so many Latinos across the United States that given the opportunity and resources can rise above. I used it for all my cultural trainings
