Hippo Sak Compostable Small Food Scrap Bags, 80 Count

These bags are well priced and fit my food scraps bin perfectly. I stretch a bag gently around the top edge of the bin and it stays in place until in ready to dump it. With the bags I used previously, I used to have to tie up one corner or it would fall in and become disgusting and hard to easily throw more food scraps in. These bags are great. Try to drain as much liquid from any scraps before you put them in, because liquid will eventually eat through the bag and puddle underneath or leak, which is expected since these are biodegradable.

My waste collection service is following the lead of other services in the Bay Area (California) requiring us to separate food scraps. So this product has been a lifesaver. It fits my food waste container, there is no smell and it is very easy to dispose of. I have to replace it regularly because this product will begin to break down after a while, but that’s a good thing. That’s what you want it to do! I highly recommend it.

I love the idea for this but I wish the bags would decompose faster. I have struggled to get them to decompose quickly.

These bags make it easy to dump the composite, and cleaning the composite pail is a breeze. With only two of us, it can take several days to fill the pail, and the bags have never broken or disintegrated. Great and helpful product!

This is hard to rate as, what I think most people have in mind — carry the bag out on way to work in morning, to composter — it is a 3-4 star at worst. But if you miss a day or two, it is a solid 1 star. But, as a kitchen scrap bucket liner, it is fine. As a liner, maybe 3-4 stars.I do not empty scraps every day. It might be a couple days in winter. If very cold and snowed in, might be a week. If May-October, very hot, and mosquitos are in full swing, I might not empty for 2-7 days (waiting for low humidity when bugs are suppressed more.)But, holes develop after just 2 days, and this bag falls apart. Understandable since it is *compostable*.So, if you are OK with that AND you carry the kitchen scrap bucket OUT to the compost bin and just dump the whole thing, bag and all, it seems to make an acceptable “liner” for the scrap bucket. This was mainly why I bought it. My bucket is smooth plastic but, it is disgusting to clean (see above time line issues) so, this bag is more a liner. That's fine. It has been a better experience. Holes in it and all. It Keeps the bucket much cleaner now. Kitchen smells better.Attention anti-compostable-all-natural-bag trolls:- There is no room in my small kitchen refrigerator or its even smaller freezer for the scrap bucket.- I am disabled. I cannot get out like clockwork to the compost bin. Ever. It is this or, scraps go out with the garbage.

I love love love these bags. I cannot express how much I love these. Before we purchased these, I was using a paper bag inside a plastic bag. I had to cut the paper bag to fit inside our small compost bin and then when it came time to dump it, we would have to hold the plastic so that the stuff would go into the compost bin and then toss the plastic. You can see that this was an arduous but necessary task. We empty our compost twice a week and it became such an annoyance.These compostable bags are strong! I rarely have leaks even though we're throwing in egg shells. When it does leak, we're able to just dump the whole thing in the compost and clean the little compost can. I will never go back to paper bags as long as these exist.if you're reading the reviews and wondering if you should buy these bags, just do it. They've lasted us a long time too and I have zero regrets about giving these a try. Especially now that we're spending more time at home and there is MORE in the compost bin than ever before. Just do it.
