Love the Model but lousey packing job
I had this model by Aurora back in the 60's. Last time I had it in my hands I was flying a secret mission in my backyard when all of a sudden my sheep dog Chubby ambushed me and my tracker went down hard never to fly again. With that little taste of nostalgia done I had to have this kit. I was shocked when it arrived and I opened my front door and saw rather than a box it was packed in a plastic bag. Part of the box was crushed (I could feel the crushed box through the plastic envelope) and I held my breath while carefully opening it. I opened it and to my relief it was all right. The fact that it was in a bag rather than a box is just careless or cheap or both. That said my only other concern is that it just seems a little smaller to me now than it did back in 1965. Pleased with its simplicity compared to kits now. To the trained ever vigilant modelers eye it looks very accurate for the time and Atlantis did a great job keeping the old instructions like they were back when. Also the decals look very nice. The shipping is the only reason why gave it4 stars but the model will be a joy to build. Perfect model if you want a break from super detailing and scratch building!

A easy to build kit for beginners or nostalgia
A reissue of the old Comet/Aurora kit which dates from the mid-1950s.As such don't expect the level of detail that you'll find in a modern kit. Then again, it's not priced like a modern kit.Pros: price, easy to build, decal options for either a pre-1957 blue aircraft or a 57-on gray/white ship.Cons: no landing gear or cockpit detail, decal placement etched into parts. The lack of interior parts is easy to solve. Since the lack of landing gear relegates this into a desk model, paint the windows gray or blue to make it look like a manufacturer's desk model.Older builders may remember this kit from their youth, younger modelers may be curious about kits from the early days of plastic models.Parents, this kit is easy to build, a great project for a novice or for a father-son or scout project.

Good starter kit
Nice kit. Easy to build. Lots of flash on the parts sprues. Old molds. Originally an Auroras kit. I didn't realize there was no landing gear down option. Odd 1/54 scale. No cockpit interior. Still looks good next to my 1/48 A-4 Skyhawk both done in Argentine Naval colors. Comes with US Navy markings.
