Extensive Knowledge For Advanced Occultists
First, I hope the description of this book is changed to what the reader is expecting to get out of this book, which in bulk is the Opening Key Spread. The hermetic knowledge you can get out of this book though is immense but know that by any means this is NOT introductory. And so, again, the description about the "initiatory" content is misleading because the information is overwhelming. Though I am far from being an adept (yet), I would say I am notch above a beginner, and yet, the reading experience here is more like drowning and have to stop halfway through so I can go back to old referenced books from Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley. Speaking of which, the author assumed so much that the reader has read through and through the Book of Thoth and other GD books that I wished it would have been pre-required before delving reader into this. Another thing about the approach of teaching is its structure of how the information (such as divinatory meanings) are strewn out along the way, and not in the traditional way where everything is laid 0-22. I guess this approach is practical in a way that the practitioner is taken baby steps into viable application (hands-on practice). Downside though is this makes it hard to reference every now and then. All in all, this is a very worthwhile purchase and might be utilizing everything I learned here...after I review my Crowley and GD books.

Things I was taught but never seen presented outside of 1-1 lessons with a master teacher!
Hughes-Barlow put things in writing that I was aware of, but never seen. I was aware of patterns, pairings and counting... to a degree. He laid it out in a very simplified format and then added layers I hadn't seen elsewhere. He provides elemental and some basic astrological associations. What he doesn't do is present it in the same manner as most - separated out by the 22 Majors, 16 court cards, and 40 Pips. He uses a wholistic approach in his presentation - which may make it a little challenging to a newcomer. It is packed full with information about the cards, their relationship to the Kabbalah, but he also provides GD meditations and rituals if you are interested in that sort of thing. It was difficult to decide how to rate it because of the never before seen info which made me want to give it a 5. At the same time this book would most likely overwhelm someone new to the teaching. Hence, a 4 rating. This book is not for everyone, but it does have a lot of useful info when the student is ready.

This is not a book for beginners
I felt very happy for reading this book. It is like Mr. Paul Hughes Barlow is next with us teaching his lessons. I love the quality of the paper. It is an excellent guide for people who know about The Golden Dawn, for people who want to learn the Very Spread of The Golden Dawn: Opening The Key Spread. Mr. Paul explains it very clear. It is a book that teaches you many things. Very informative and useful.

What a complete waste! This is in no way criticizing the author
Do Not Purchase The Kindle Edition! This edition is So Full of Spelling Errors and missing content. Sometimes you can't tell what the author was writing because words are missing. What a complete waste! This is in no way criticizing the author. I'm slamming whoever transcribed the book.

Great intro to Elemental Dignities
I like how it takes the read through the journey of clarifying an obscure Celtic Cross reading by applying the use of the Elemental Dignities.
