Great Book!
On The Wings of Heroes is a very good book about WWII. I liked this book because I learned a lot about what life was like during WWII. Those at home during the war had to go without a lot of things like rubber, sugar, and coffee. Many families also gave up fathers, brothers, and sons who left to go fight in the war. The author wrote the story in a way that made me feel like I was there! I really enjoyed this book!

Great book, great price! Great Gift for Seniors Who Remember WWII and Small Town Life
One of Richard Peck's best books, and a great gift for anyone who enjoys the Norman Rockwell type nostalgia of pre -WW II times in a small town and the effects of WWII on small town life, done in a sweet and charming way. Book shipped VERY fast and was pristine, no problems. Thanks!

Charming
The language is poetic, and it's a joy to read. As an adult reader, however, I found it deeply unsatisfying. It is an enlightening portrait of the home front during World War II, but leaves out adult emotional depth.

This is a great book about life on the home front during WW II
I read this aloud to my fifth grade class and they are still quoting it to me a year later. Great for all ages.

3rd thru 5th Book Club
This book definitely required "Mom" to read aloud to be able to explain all of the 1940's terminology. The story deals with what home life back here in the States was like while family members went off to fight in WWII. Women going to work in factories, food rationing, hardships and the like. It is told through the eyes of a young boy who's older brother goes off war, so it has light hearted situations... and the ending is happy because the brother makes it home.

I enjoyed how this family dealt with issues during the war ...
I enjoyed how this family dealt with issues during the war times. The family stuck together and the author captures the thoughts of children during a world crisis.
